"I’m from the Midwest, so I’m judging by my experience from home and expecting this place to be slightly worse it absolutely wasn’t!I first noticed peanuts on every table with an empty for shells (I hate the peanut shells on the floor thing. Delightful! Tables had “pizza joint” red and white checkered waterproof covers with paper on top. Music was 70’s rock and a reasonable volume. I prefer a more European environment, but this felt like home.I ordered French Onion Soup and a medium rare ribeye steak with garlic mashed potatoes. The soup came first with homemade dinner rolls and homemade cinnamon butter. When I was halfway done with the soup, the food arrived. Very quick service from waitress and kitchen. Granted, the place was about 1/4 full, but I was still impressed.Soup: almost the best I’ve ever had!Rolls: very goodSteak: excellent! It was more on the medium side, but the whole piece had plenty of fat and meat and was fork tender.Potatoes: I was initially disappointed because there were no skins and well mashed. I was concerned they weren’t homemade by appearance, but they were very delightfully garlicky. I love garlic, and they were perfect.I’m not big on alcohol reviews, but I did notice some more midwestern beers, including Goose Island on tap. I stuck with water because I was dehydrated.Price: $30 inc. tax, not tip.In short: great food, good atmosphere, rapid service in the dining room and kitchen. Reasonably priced (even by midwestern standards . 9.5/10Parking: Strip mall, most businesses closed while I was visiting. I parked at the door."
