"Year after year, despite its less-than-ideal location, this small taco stand seemed to flourish as we drove past it on our way to the Northeast Mall or to Richland Hills/Haltom City. Clearly, they must have been doing something right! Finally, we decided to give it another try late last year, and we were pleasantly surprised by their street tacos. Since then, we've become regular customers. It seems either they improved or our tastes evolved—likely a bit of both.
We delayed our review until they moved to their new location, which has now happened, so here we are.
**Food:** Alvarado's is a genuine taqueria, which is somewhat rare in the northern part of NE Tarrant. We love their tacos, both large and street-sized. They are generous with the meat, offering great value for the price. The salsa bar is a highlight, featuring a variety of sauces, including a spicy chile de arbol, a zesty verde, and a smooth habanero, which is their hottest option. Mrs. RJG also enjoys their rice and beans, and she claims the carne asada is excellent. We particularly like their chicken, adobada, and carne asada, but they also offer more adventurous options like lengua for those who are keen on trying something different.
**Drinks:** As expected, they don’t serve alcohol, but they do offer a selection of bottled Mexican drinks and fountain sodas."
