"we stopped at this place on a road trip for my children and I was too early and I was not disappointed. my children decided that 9 o'clock is a good time to have a hamburger, and the waitress and cookers had no problem fulfilling this order. my taco omelett, while good, was plagued with too many olives. I love olives, but it was almost as if they had emptied a whole dose into my omelet. but I would like to come back and try others. I must note that the waitress was amazing and very thoughtful. she was great."

"Bland Food and bad Coffee Even for a Diner You can usually gauge how blasé the food is going to be by how many elderly, white-haired people are dining there. And this was no exception to the rule. The grits tasted like nothing and were somehow both over cooked and still had uncooked pieces. The sausage gravy was a warm, flavorless, flour mash. The coffee was so weak and/or watered down that it’s insulting they charge $2.50 for it. But! The staff is friendly and attentive, and for some people that’s enough of a reason to keep coming back. If you have no more taste buds left or think ground black pepper is spicy, you might love Kay’s Family Restaurant. If you’re under 50 years old and have a caffeine addiction that needs feeding, it might not be for you."

"We spent two days in Winston and decided to have dinner at this restaurant, followed by breakfast the next morning because the food and drinks were so impressive. While dinner was excellent, we were even more blown away by breakfast. I'm always on the hunt for homemade sausages, and we truly found the best here. Fantastic food and great service!"

"Had a few problems with this place starting off outside parking lot was dirty and run down. Upon walking in servers were not friendly. And quite sure ours for our table was high on some type of drugs.Food was edible that's about all I can say about it. After working in restaurants most my life I can say this is one of the worst places I have ever been."

"Firstly, the hostess was absolutely fantastic, and she was quite attractive too! She assisted me with my order, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. I enjoyed the ribs, mashed potatoes, and collard greens. I couldn't wait to dig in and started eating before I even got back to the hotel! Everything was incredibly delicious! She mentioned that I should return on a Friday to try the seafood, and I definitely plan to do so! They also offer daily specials, and you can't beat the prices!"

"The restaurant has significantly increased prices, even for seniors. What's even worse is that they used to give two slices of toast with an order, but now they only give one. This is shameful and a huge disappointment. Additionally, their coffee used to cost $3, but now it's over $6 for a cup. The restaurant should be ashamed of their price gouging. While prices have increased everywhere, theirs are just ridiculous."

"My buddy and I came here in hopes to get a good steak and seafood dinner. It had a 4star review so I was confident that it would be satisfactory. The diner itself had that old Denny's vibe with a bar counter top and an attached bar with video lotto. Booths were as ancient as the customers. Aside from badly needing renovations, the menu looked promising. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner available all day. Appears to be a decent selection of things, although what drew me there was the advertisement on the building for steaks and seafood. So I order the prime rib, my buddy orders the ribeye. Ordered both medium rare. We get our food after a decent amount of time. I pretty much laugh at my buddys steak- looked like a kids plate. Thin and overcooked meat unseasoned. Prime rib was well-done and the aujus that came with it was like water with soy sauce. Nope. Extremely disappointed. Food was flavorless and overpriced. Only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the service was good.Keep walking- there are plenty of decent restaurants in the area. If it wasn't for the senors that keep the place open I don't understand how they stay in buisness with such terrible overpriced food. Just say no."

"8/14/2018Had lunch delivered for a meeting, but one order that was a veggie wrap didn't come with the salsa and chips as listed on the menu and none of the ingredients that were listed like, onion, tomato, cheese black olives, shredded parmesan cheese were in the wrap.When we called they said we could come by and pick up the salsa and chips! We had it delivered, paid bite squad and tip and they want us to come there. WOW!!!Or as suggested next time we order to remind them, and they would give us extra chips and salsa. Yeah like they are going to remember.Also, 3 mixed fruit cups were ordered, and we got cups full of all grapes, nothing mixed about that.We will not be ordering from them again anytime soon."

"The steak at this restaurant was tough, but I really enjoyed the potatoes. I placed my order through DoorDash, but unfortunately, the delivery person did not provide butter or syrup for my pancakes. I believe it is the restaurant's responsibility to ensure that all necessary condiments are included with the meal. I was disappointed that the issue was not resolved and I did not receive the complete order despite paying for it. I will not be ordering from here again. It is important for the restaurant to properly train their employees to provide a satisfactory dining experience for customers."

"We really liked it. We all had calabash shrimp except one of us that had flounder. The food was really good and fresh. The slaw seemed like it was homemade. The slaw was very good! Our waitress was friendly. The food came out quick… It was hot and fresh."
