"As the food started to come out, only about half of our group had received their meals when the server mentioned that the owner specifically wanted us to settle the bill since we were seated outside. My ex insisted he would pay only after everyone had been served, which I personally found reasonable, as it’s customary to pay after a meal. Ultimately, he went inside to pay because he is kinder than I am.
I should point out that, if you have kids, you know how long it takes to get them settled and in the car. We certainly had no intention of leaving without paying! If the restaurant had concerns about this, they should have seated us indoors. The whole situation felt quite insulting, as we are all professional, respectful adults and frequently dine out with our children. I’ve never experienced anything like this before.
I’m uncertain if this was an instance of racial profiling or stereotyping, but I do know that we will not be supporting this business again. I would never recommend anyone patronize a place that treats customers this way!"
