"The idea of standing in line to order your food before even sitting down is confusing and not enjoyable. It’s stressful trying to decide what to eat with people hovering around you. The staff at the front were unfriendly, arrogant, and unhelpful. When we asked to be seated instead of going down to the basement (especially since our elderly father, who’s 94, was with us), they looked at us as if we were breaking some sort of sacred protocol. Eventually, they allowed us to go to our table, where we were largely ignored by the overly numerous waitstaff. A shoutout to the person who filled our water glasses—they were very attentive and did a great job. When our server finally made it to our table and asked what we wanted to drink, I inquired about the beer options (as there was no list), and he had no idea what was available. He suggested I head down to the bar to check. My wife and I ordered a Josh Cabernet, but it was served so warm I was surprised it didn’t catch fire! My dad ordered the featured pineapple cocktail, which was definitely not worth it. The salad was the worst I've ever had—the dressing tasted and smelled like nail polish remover. The canned roasted red peppers with garlic for an appetizer were a disappointment, earning zero stars. The famed pasta with garlic oil appetizer was completely devoid of flavor. I'm guessing they used three cups of oil, and none of it was extra virgin olive oil. We ordered surf and turf, where the filet was okay, but the lobster was bland and not fully cooked. The bone-in ribeye was nicely cooked, but similarly bland, and the shrimp scampi was average; we never even received the pasta it was supposed to come with. The local corn on the cob, served as the vegetable after sitting in water for what must have been three hours, was tasteless. How do you ruin such beautiful local corn? The apple crisp was mushy and just terrible. I ordered mint chocolate chip ice cream, and guess what? Not a single chocolate chip in sight! The chocolate and vanilla ice cream tasted like it came from Friendly's. The coffee was harsh, bitter, and tasted old. Then we spent an additional 15 minutes trying to get our painfully slow waiter to bring us the check. I didn’t mention our friends’ food since I didn’t try theirs. Overall, I rate the food a 2, service a 2, and atmosphere a 1."
