"Regarding flavor, this afternoon tea indeed offered some of the best tasting items I have ever tried in afternoon tea experiences in the United States. I enjoyed the vegetarian tea service and was impressed with the asparagus flavors on one of the tea sandwiches options, which had edible flowers that indeed added extra sophistication to both, the palate and the eye. The sweetness of the other items was perfectly balanced and not at all overpowering. The St. Regis tea blend was indeed perfect with and without added creamer or sweeteners. The attention to detail as well during the service itself allowed for an extra elevated experience, this was exceptionally provided by the attendant, the Director of Food and Beverages, and every staff around. The table setting was mostly traditional, which was balanced by a modern serving of tea that was not loose leaf served, beautiful china, a golden sweets tower, all under a gilded age embellished roof, original to the time in which the St. Regis opened. The serving itself had a modern take, since the savory tea sandwiches were served in a separate plate, and not as part of the traditional 3 tier tower. This gave the experience a contemporary look, charming indeed. This afternoon tea service is very much in demand and reservations should be made. It’s definitely a must in the DC area."
