"As a foodie with 30 years of customer service experience, I was disappointed last week when the same rude woman answered the phone. She rushed me, yelled during my order, and seemed to get confused. Despite the restaurant possibly being busy, my order was simple: a Steak and Cheese with lettuce, tomato, cheese, and onions with light mayo, plus Shrimp Egg Foo Young.
I’ve loved Chinese food since childhood, particularly from a restaurant in Kingston, New York, that my family frequently visited. When I placed my order last week, she continued to rush me and seemed annoyed. A second person came in with cash to place an order after me, which only delayed things further. She struggled with my credit card and grew frustrated with me during the process.
When the delivery guy arrived—someone I hadn’t seen before—he said, “No tip,” even though he had no way of knowing if I would tip or not. I wanted to check my food first, as I always tip without being asked. It felt rude for him to assume otherwise.
Upon opening my order, I was disappointed to find that my Steak and Cheese didn’t include the tomatoes I love, and the Shrimp Egg Foo Young was not good at all, contrary to my previous experiences. I’ve decided that I won’t be ordering from Golden China again. There is a better Chinese restaurant in Lanham, Maryland (though I can't recall the name), located between a dealership and a 7-11. We loved their food and highly recommend it, though unfortunately, DoorDash and Uber Eats have stopped delivering from there without explanation. I was grateful my uncle brought me some while I was in the hospital."
