"We ordered drinks, but the glasses they were served in were inadequate. The drinks were poorly made, as the person mixing them was also preparing sushi, and seemed to lack bartending experience. They only had two martini glasses, which were quickly confiscated once emptied. I ordered a Cosmopolitan, which came in a juice glass, and it contained the wrong ingredients with an excessive amount of vodka. The water glasses varied greatly in size, making the experience even more inconsistent. As for the food, everyone in our party ordered from the hibachi grill. The cook appeared very inexperienced, frequently dropping his utensils. Three people ordered salmon, and it was spoiled, while those who chose chicken received it overcooked. The vegetables accompanying the stir-fry had a stale taste. Having dined at numerous Japanese hibachi grill restaurants before, I can confidently say this was the worst experience I've had. The service was lacking as well; our server didn't seem to care about our concerns and even dismissed my request to speak to the manager as if it was a joke. In my opinion, this restaurant deserves a visit from the Virginia Health Department to ensure they meet health regulations and proper standards—or to potentially be shut down altogether. The staff struggled to communicate in English, which hindered effective interaction with customers. I don't know what the locals in Wytheville are accustomed to, but this establishment certainly does not meet standards for safe dining. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone."

Sushi Yaki

"Sushi Yaki is likely the best value proposition for Sushi in Lake Forest. I feel like this restaurant has been at this location since the city of El Toro was renamed Lake Forest in 1991 and I have no good reason for not checking out this great little mom pop long before now. The interior is small but charming with Japanese kitch adorning the walls and possibly the friendliest husband and wife team in the OC Sushi game. In fact, I would return for that reason alone. Thankfully, Sushi Yaki has serious Nigiri and Roll chops to boot. Sushi Yaki closes its doors at 7:30pm meaning lunch is their major wheelhouse and this is also the time to get the best deals I have seen in Sushi in some time. 4 different Bento Box Sets are available all day for under $10.00 and include Miso and a side. Even when you order a la carte Sushi Yaki shines as I was able to get a large Spicy Tuna Roll and a super savory and piping hot Miso Soup without hitting double digits on the tab out the door. Don't think for a second that means you will have to compensate in quality to enjoy the deals either, Sushi Yaki employs Seafood as fresh as anywhere and the portions are as expected or larger. I am guessing the low overhead is what makes Sushi Yaki the value king of south OC and since everything is prepared to order in front of you there is no questioning their freshness. I have a feeling that Sushi Yaki will become part of my regular routine as it is located just off of the Lake Forest exit on the 5 and there is always ample parking and generally short lines. Oh, and they have a $5.00 minimum order to use debit or credit which is the cost of their cheapest Roll, so no issues there. This is a sure shot 4-star banger of a Sushi experience; Certainly a must stop if you are a local or in the area."
