"My husband ordered the Jumbo Gumbo, and Mrs. Mackey cautioned him not to go for the fourth level of heat. He chose a two, which turned out to be plenty spicy—his nose was running and his eyes were watering! But it was hot and absolutely delicious. I had the Beef With Debris Po Boy, which was also fantastic. Next time, I think I'll skip the pickle and try it on a bed of rice instead.
What’s great about Mackey's is that they’re willing to customize the menu to suit your preferences. Both Mr. and Mrs. Mackey take the time to stop by tables, check in on guests, and engage in friendly conversation. They really make you feel at home. It’s no surprise the place was packed; they seemed to know everyone! The combination of amazing food, warm and friendly service, and the fun New Orleans decor creates a fantastic atmosphere."
