"Comfortable, unassuming family restaurant in the Safeway plaza. Great chips and salsa. Today was our second time in and had a weird experience. At the beginning, we verified with the server that today was Tequila Tuesday (TT) and that tequila was half off. He said just for shots though, not margaritas. Two of us ordered margaritas anyway — they were very sweet, not sour, and pretty weak. So the guys decided to take advantage of TT and ordered 2 shots, so they could pour it into their margs. Server asked which tequila, we said whatever the house one was, he hesitated, and we said “just whatever the cheapest one is” and he said okay. He brought over 2 massive shot glasses, so we thought maybe he thought they were ordering 2 shots each, but we thought no big deal. Later we get the check and see that he charged $21.50 per shot. We thought that was crazy for their cheapest tequila, but we should at least be getting the half off, so we told him, and he very nonchalantly said “oh I forgot to put on the discount”. Instead of having a corrected bill, he came back with the tequila menu, and had the gall to tell us that we had ordered the house tequila, which is $43 per shot, so he had charged us correctly! He pointed at the “Clase Azul Reposado” in the middle of the page, with no indication on it that it should even kind of be confused as the “house” tequila. We obviously objected because we never even looked at the menu and had clearly just asked him for their cheapest tequila. He said okay and after some time, he finally came back charging us $8.50 per shot. This was still wrong since that is the normal price and not the TT price, but by this point we just wanted to get home, so let it go. The food is fine and the server we had last time was great, so not sure if we for sure won’t come back because of this experience, but it was just weird."

"My experience at this place was absolutely horrible! I don’t know what exactly was wrong with my server but he needs to fix his funky attitude. I was coming into town for the college night of 2024 that Montevallo has. Me along with my friends decided to dine at the establishment with the expectation that we would leave with smiles on our faces. I along with my friends were deeply disappointed because we did not in fact leave with smiles. The waiter that we had was an older man. He wore glasses and had slightly grey hair. On this particular night, he was our waiter. We ordered our food but there was a problem. My friend who ordered food didn’t exactly like the way her food tasted. It was too mushy and she had asked for there not to be onions in her meal because she’s allergic. When she got her food and smelled onions, she had politely asked the waiter could he return it. Just the smell of onions ruins her appetite! That’s how bad her allergy is. When trying to explain to the man that she didn’t like the food, he simply brushed her off and proceeded to put the food on the receipt. When we asked him why the food was still on there, he gave us the most diabolical attitude. He had said that where he’s from, even if someone didn’t like the food, they still had to pay for it! The whole table was appalled! I had never heard of such a rule and I knew for sure that this man was simply taking it out on me and my friends because we were black. I have worked in food industry for ten years. Never in my life had I heard of the fact that if someone didn’t like the food they didn’t touch nor eat, they still had to pay for it. I recommend that those who eat there be careful because I also saw a few roaches crawling around when leaving. Be aware!"

"I have ordered only a few items from Davie Taco Bar. I usually get the Tacos de Birria con Queso (Cheese Birria Tacos), and they are by far the best birria tacos I?ve had! The beef was very tender and juicy, and the tortilla was not soggy whatsoever. Whenit came to the broth I was very fearful because many of the broths that I?ve had from other taco shops tend to always beextremely oily and nasty, but the broth that my tacos came with was very rich and delicious and was paired with cilantro andonions that really made it over the top. Usually, I would throw out my broth side once I?ve finished my taco, however with this, one could very easily drink it straight out the container and enjoy it as a soup. Along with the tacos, I ordered the Churrosand Chocolate for dessert. The churros I received were a little bit over-cooked and dry, but this could be contributed to thefact it took a minute for me to receive it. They are definitely not shy with the chocolate and pour a lot on top, I do wish thatit was less because I feel this caused the churros to be very soggy. Despite this, I would still say I was pleased withchurros,, they weren?t too sweet and the chocolate it came with was very tasteful. Altogether, I would rate the quality andtaste of the food a 9/10, I have tried around 4 different places that serve Birria Tacos and no place has even come close toDavie Taco Bar Agave!"
