"Our first experience at JD Shuckers was quite disappointing. Normally, I wouldn't take the time to write a review after a mediocre meal, but this visit compelled me to share my thoughts. To begin with, our waitress was not very friendly. Having worked in a restaurant myself, I understand how challenging it can be for waitstaff, especially during busy shifts. However, I can't help but wonder if she was having an off day, feeling overwhelmed, or simply indifferent towards us. Her attitude made us uncomfortable throughout our visit. She didn't introduce herself and was quite curt. After we ordered our drinks, she hurried off before we had a chance to order an appetizer. My partner's drink arrived quickly, but I waited about 20 minutes for mine, even though I didn't order anything complicated.
About 10 minutes prior to my drink arriving, the waitress returned, allowing us to order food. I tried to ask her about the side dishes, but she was again brief and unengaged, as if she wanted to limit our conversation. Our appetizer came out just five minutes before our entrees, but it lacked seasoning and was excessively greasy, with oil pooling on the plate. When our entrees arrived, the meat was completely unseasoned—no salt or flavor at all. While I enjoyed the side dishes I ordered, my partner's fries were overly greasy, which suggested the frying oil wasn't hot enough.
After finishing our meals, we waited another 10 minutes before the waitress dropped off the bill without offering dessert. I had been considering trying their cheesecake, but there was no mention of a dessert menu, just the printed bill. Overall, we were very disappointed with our visit to JD Shuckers. While we might have given them another chance based on the food alone, the poor service left a lasting negative impression."
