"Upon entering, a woman shouted from across the room for us to sit anywhere, which was quite unexpected. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was calm. We placed our orders and noticed that another table had received their meal, with steam rising from their eggs. I thought to myself, "So far, so good; at least the food is coming out hot."
A server came over, introduced herself, and handed us the menus. I mentioned it was our first visit, and she welcomed us. However, she wasn’t the one serving us. Another server came by without introducing herself, and when I asked for coffee, she brought it over—only to find it was extremely watered down. My mom noted how weak it tasted. The server then remarked that "you can’t expect much; the coffee is terrible." I was taken aback!
When our food arrived, it looked great, but it was cold. The bacon was overly salty, the grits were bland, and I had to drown the eggs in ketchup. To make matters worse, she didn’t serve us any water or even offer to bring us some. When my mom asked for a container to take her leftovers, the server replied, "Yeah, but what did you expect, you ate with your eyes," which my mom found offensive, especially since she had gastric bypass surgery and eats small portions.
Things didn’t improve from there. I noticed the first server brought the check to the person sitting behind my mom, took his credit card, and processed his payment. Then, when my server brought my check, she told me I had to go to the front to pay. Absolutely not! The first server had taken care of my payment without me needing to leave the table. It was unbelievable!
I will not be returning to this restaurant. I rated it a 2, but that was only for the ambiance—not for the service."
