"UPDATE: I haven't been here in a while because I moved further away but I was in the area last week and was really craving the food and to my surprise, I was disappointed. I didn't see the same familiar face that always greeted us before so I asked if the place had been sold and was told no. I soecifically asked for the gentleman we were familiar with and I was told he is the owner and was in the back so that gave me a little peace of mind. Then we got our food amd the difference from before is day and night. It was bland, all 3 of our dishes which we always get so we know what the previous taste was. I asked if the chef had maybe changed and again I was told no. They either misinformed me in response to my questions or the chef has lost his/her touch. I miss the weekend buffet so at this point that is the only way I would return so I can hopefully eat something that tastes good cause the separate individual orders were not up to par. See photos from this recent visitORIGINAL: I really like this place and come quite a bit. Today I ordered for pickup and witnessed something degrading. One of the cooks poked his head out from the back and handed the person at the bar one of those small soup containers like you would get from a chinese food place. I thought someone had asked for it for carry out but to my surprise, the bar person filled it with coke and sent it back to the cook. I mean come on seriously, they cannot use a plastic cup or a glass to drink? I am curious to get some feedback from owners or management about this incident as it was a turn off for me. Depending on the response and if I come back I will ask the staff about this. Every human deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. I am a bit upset right now. I am actually sitting outside in my car. I could not wait to post this."

"A North Indian style punjabi, more previously) restaurant, a pretty new addition to NWA food scene. The inside is neat, and tidy including the restroom. Everything is new, the plates, silverwares and table mats are clean. The staff are also cool. We ordered Bhalla papdi chat, and dahi puri. Dahi puri was average, and the Bhalla papdi chat was pretty decent. At least, everything was fresh and crisp. Taste wise, I was missing something, but again, chat is very regional and personal. I like it loaded with date- tamarind, but others might not. So it’s understandable. The masala tea was too milky for me. I love ‘kadak’ chai stronger in taste, less sweet, fragrant with green cardamom). Again this is a personal preference, so can’t really complain. In the main course, we ordered garlic naan with butter chicken. The butter chicken was yum! I have had a good butter chicken after ages. Taste wise it was so balanced. The tandoori chicken arrived a bit later. It was decent, nothing over the top. They served two leg quarters, which was pretty good amount. The other day I went back for kulcha in the weekend. The kulcha came with chhole garbanzo beans). The kulcha a typical flatbread with some stuffing) was great. The aloo paratha and another paneer/ gobi paratha was good too. All these parathas were served with raita. We requested for some pickles and the owner/ staff gave us some home- made one. It was good, but I expected some spicy and hot pickle. They sell some fresh sweets in the counter too. We bought some rasmalai back home. It’s decent, little grainy and too sweet, tastes like a home made one.Overall, I’m pretty hopeful about this place, and highly recommend others to give it a try. Their service is a bit slow. So go there with some time in hand. At least it’s good that, they are serving fresh."

"This review is not about the food. It is about the service and honesty of the restaurant staff. I encountered deception from a male staff member when I placed a carry out order tonight around 5:30pm (10/16/24) and it had me boiling. I walked in to a nearly empty restaurant (there was one guest dining) and placed a to-go order at the counter. The team member said it would take about 15-20 minutes (it ended up taking closer to 30 minutes, but that’s beside the point). The brief interactions I had with the female worker (who appeared to be the owner) were curt and uninviting. What infuriated me, though, was when the male cashier rang me up and I went to pay. First, I tried to pay with cash (I prefer this method especially with carry out orders to avoid being asked to tip on a to-go order I am simply picking up myself). The man who rang me up said that he didn’t currently have access to the cash register and asked if I could pay with a card. I then pulled out my card. The man began turning the handheld POS system towards me so that I could insert my card. However, he quickly pulled it back, selected the 20% tip option (which I could clearly still see), and then gave it back for me to swipe. I was stunned and could not believe that a cashier would automatically make a selection like this for a customer. I was furious. Being the non-confrontational person that I am though, I didn’t know how to address this with the cashier, and I did not want to cause a scene. The card reader was not working at first, and after a couple attempts I frustratingly tried to ask again if I could just pay in cash. This request was ignored, and he was finally able to get my card to go through. The receipt printed and it showed that I had left a 20% tip. I was so heated by this, especially since the man never even acknowledged what he had done. I know restaurant margins are slim, and whenever we dine in, we tip well over 20%. But I do not buy into tip culture where workers are expecting to receive tips for merely handing over food to a customer, let alone making that decision for the customer. To knowingly try and deceive a customer like this is appalling. If I ever do place a carryout order at Natraj again, it will be via their online ordering platform where I am given the choice to leave a tip or not (I do try to be generous whenever I can, especially with restaurant workers, but this should be on my own terms and not something that is forced upon customers without any acknowledgement – I understand it’s a completely different scenario when large groups are dining and a gratuity percentage is added to the bill automatically—at least this is MADE KNOWN to the customer), or I will insist on paying cash. If the cash register is conveniently not accessible again, then I will pay in exact change. It’s incredibly insulting to treat a customer like this, and this is a warning to other guests. Use the online ordering system or pay in exact change if you don’t want to have tips forcibly added onto your bill without any notice, consent, or acknowledgement.
