"I think this is a decent/good place to eat, and the staff really shines through. I made a reservation for a Thursday night, and they were very busy, but the staff was professional, quick, and provided great service. Drinks: I started off with a take on a Manhattan. It was good, no issue or concern with it. Bread: I received two of what I recall to be onion rolls with two pats of butter. I would have preferred the rolls warmer, but they were fine, not particularly memorable either way. Appetizer: The heavy-cut bacon with Vermont fancy maple syrup and shaved Parmigiano Reggiano. You received a good amount of syrup with it, which I thought complimented the bacon very well. The shaved parm did not really add anything to the dish. The maple syrup was quite good and I really enjoy how it tasted, seemed like good-quality maple syrup to me. The bacon was thick and had a bit of a pop when you bit into it. Main: The Gotham Rib Steak au poivre with an order of fries. The Fries were really good, they had an excellent crunch but still the hearty and tender potato inside. The steak was a decent steak. I ordered medium rare and it was cooked to that specification. It came with the onion ring which was a good onion ring. The outside was covered in crushed black peppercorns, but the size of the crush was just a little too big. There was a little too much crunch through the peppercorn when biting into the steak. My steak was also very fatty (yes, even by rib steak standards), and I did wind up cutting off a lot of gristle/fat clumps. The au Poivre sauce was decent, not particularly standing out. There were no major issues with the steak, but just some minor dents that made it a decent steak. I finished the steak and was very full, so sadly no dessert this time. The place itself is not exactly well illuminated. I understand that steakhouses are not exactly bright places when it comes to the lights, but I think this had the lowest amount of lighting I've ever had at one. Perhaps that is to give it a sense of privacy and intimacy. There is some interesting artwork, which I could kind of see. All in all, if I was with someone who wanted to eat here for dinner, I would have no issue with that."
