"Presentation of the food was lovely. Service was excellent. The table booth was comfortable and atmosphere was inviting and contemporary. The noise level was low and made for easy conversation, though the space was sparsely populated the evening we dined there. The portion size for the appetizer and my cubano sandwich were modest for the price. The sandwich was mostly bread, which though appealing to the eye because of its shape, was tough to chew, without much flavor. The making of the reservation was frustrating. I was asked to choose between booth area #1 , #2 and #3. While I appreciate being given the choice, I could not find a description or map showing the differences. Since I had invited out of town guests I wanted the best available for them, so I called the tavern to inquire. The phone number on the site did not go to the tavern, but to the hotel it is located in. No one at the hotel knew the details of the tavern and was not able to put me in touch with someone who did. So I picked #1 and hoped for the best. I made the reservation online since it wasn't possible to reach the tavern. In the notes section of my online reservation I asked if it were possible to arrange a small desert with a single candle on it for after dinner, as one of my guests was celebrating his birthday. Despite leaving my email address and cell phone number with my reservation, no one contacted me to let me know and once at the tavern no one approached me to ask about my request, despite it being a slow evening. Lots of potential for this establishment."

"Service was terrible. Waitress did not know what liquors were stocked at the bar. When asked what brands of rye are carried, the answer was, We carry everything, what do you want? I asked for Whistle Pig Rye, and the waitress later returned and stated that they do not carry it. She then asked what my next choice was. I asked her for a bar list, but they do not have one. I then asked her to ask the bar what brands they carry so as not to be going back and forth. She later returned and said they carry Bullit. I asked what other brands, and she said that the bartender said that 's all they carry. Strike one. I ordered the ribeye and was told that they were out of ribeye. How does a steakhouse not have enough ribeye for a Saturday night? The manager can by later and explained that his supplier unexpectedly raised the price, so he didn 't order any. Strike two. I ordered the porterhouse medium rare. The steak arrived and did have a nice taste. However, half the steak was a light pink, and the other half was on the way to well done. Strike three. I wanted a glass of Shiraz with the meal, but they don 't carry it. Strike four. I wanted to try the apple pie for dessert, and, you guessed it, they were out. Strike five. Also, there was no water served or offered at the table until we asked for it. The water glasses that were on the table were dirty and sticky. Strike six. On the good side, the salad was very fresh. My wife ordered the grouper and said that it was very good. Overall, I would not return as the poor service and lack of attention to the stock made for a disappointing experience. It was definitely not worth the money we spent. Now that I have read your reply, I see why people post the things they do. You take NO ownership for your shortcomings and misstate facts. First of all, the glasses were dirty and sticky when we sat down and had to be replaced. You stated that your purveyor wanted to charge you $3.00 more per pound for the ribeye, so you didn 't order it. Nothing was said about whether or not it was CAB. I never said the meat was delicious. As a matter of fact, I made no statements about the meat. You spoke primarly with my wife, not me and she said that her grouper was good, which I had stated in my initial review. The salads were also fresh, as I had previously stated. The first think you waitress told us was that you stock all kinds of rye. After multiple inquiries she then said that you only stock one brand of rye. Don 't mislead your customers when asked a direct question. When I asked what brands you carry, she should know that you only carry one brand and relay that information, not make it like a scavenger hunt to get the correct answer. I also didn 't mention in the initial review that we were charged twice for the one drink. It was corrected, but only after we reviewed the bill. She was the only person that waited on us and should review the bill before presenting it for payment. Nor did I say anything about the type of glass that a $17 Manhattan Up was served in. I stand by my review. Wheelchair accessibility: Bathroom is not wheelchair accessible."

"Simply SUPERLATIVE food and experience. And not just for Lansing area, but period. Dusty 's used to be our go to restaurant for fine dining, back in the 90 's and early 2000 's, before we moved to a different state. This was the first time we 'd been back for at least 15 years, and the food and service were INCREDIBLE. Colton was our server, and was EXTREMELY attentive. And the food was top shelf. The fig and gorgonzola flatbread is a flavor BOMB a fantastic WOW combination of sweet and savory. My wife and I both took our first bites and went, OMG....this is SO GOOD!!! And the entrees were equally excellent: she got the Korean braised beef (truly melt in your mouth), and I got the mushroom stroganoff. Both were piping hot and delicious. One of THE best measures of exceptional food is when you take a bite, and then immediately turn to your dining partner and say, You HAVE to try this!!! We BOTH did this, throughout the meal. And the key lime pie with macerated strawberries gets our mutual vote for BEST KEY LIME PIE WE HAVE EVER HAD, ANYWHERE. Side note: we 've taken the last year, since pandemic, to go out once a month to different restaurants, mostly in the Birmingham AL area (where we now live), but also in Portland, Seattle, and Chicago. And our dinner at Dusty 's ranks as one of THE best food and service experiences we 've had (out of close to two dozen). A THANK YOU Dusty 's!!!!"
