"Absolutely do not recommend. This was the worst hibachi place I have ever tried. The soup (that every hibachi place has) was awful. It had a noodle or two in it which was fine except, the soup tasted as if they scooped the water they used to boil the noodles into a bowl to serve us. It tasted like boiled noodle water. The rest of our hibachi table (all strangers to us) agreed it tasted so awful. The ginger salad (that every hibachi place has) was on that level as well. It had a weird smell and dressing to lettuce ratio was as if they couldn't afford to put more than a tablespoon in it. The dressing itself was just horrid. I watched them cook our food. We both ordered steak and shrimp fried rice. I don't like the vegetables so I always order double fried rice and no veggies. Well, we had to ask permission to do that. Which doesn't surprise me considering their menu literally says there's an up charge if you share plates. WHAT. Okay. Apparently, this place can dictate what you do. I feel sorry for those who have small children and going here. The steak and shrimp was awful. Steak tasted horrible. He poured some type of power over it while it was cooking. Not sure what it was but it was gross. The meat was so tough and chewy. The shrimp was old. The rice was weird as well. It just had some weird smells with it. To make matters worse, the place is quite pricey. It was double the price of any place back home to no quality. The service was rough. The chef ignored you the entire time. The server was no where to be found. Absolutely not. DO NOT RECOMMEND."

"We had a nice dinner out in their patio area on a Saturday night. When we got there we were greeted, but the first few minutes were not pleasant: 1) The hostess sat us at a table we liked and then demanded that we sit at a smaller table for no reason (there was plenty of empty tables) that had wobbly legs. Luckily the other staff member said we could return to the table we originally were sat at. 2) They do not follow all COVID=19 rules. They do not clean the chairs as one is supposed to do. 3) They have on-line menues which is nice. All the restaurants we have been at do have a few copies of single use paper menues for those who forgot their cell phones. This is the way to do things as some are older especially for German food and its good to have the option if needed. All other restaurants we have been to are quite nice about it. They need to fix this. Yes, direct people to the online menu, but then have a single use paper just in case. These are the issues we saw in this restaurant regarding COVID. Social distancing, masks, etc. were fine. We liked our dinner. We had their tasty pretzel. We enjoyed the pear salad. We liked our German dinner. We had black forest cake for dessert which was tasty. They also have an awesome beer list. We liked our beers. We ordered the largest size. i will opt for the mid size next time. All in all we had a wonderful night out. We made our reservations on open table. The server who served us was good and was attentive."

"The manager on duty this particular evening (a small Asian male) was extremely rude. I've been a long-time customer at Ooki, based on location, mostly (but not always) good-tasting food, and despite some occasional glitches in delivery (the wrong dish is delivered about 10% of the time and sometimes they require (mostly because of location), but also due to some good food (but not always). In terms of delivery, about 10% of the time, the wrong order is delivered and sometimes they require the customer to send them a photo of what was delivered before they agree to exchange it. But overall, the service was acceptable such that I have been a repeat customer for over 10 years. But today, I ordered for takeout for single dish under $10 When I got there to pay, they told me I had to pay cash as there was a $10 limit for credit, I know that a credit minimum is not an unusual practice. However, I can’t recall having to pay cash at Ooki in the recent past, so I was a bit surprised with the request for cash. The cashier was apologetic and friendly. But then the manager intervened and very quickly and rudely told me I had to pay cash. When I told him I was a long-time customer who never paid cash, he said it didn’t matter. When I asked to see something in writing that stated the credit minimum policy, he then dismissed me and told me the order was cancelled. Before leaving the restaurant, I double-checked the walls and the menu to see if there was some written policy supporting the $10 minimum. There wasn't any. So I ended up walking 2 blocks to another Japanese restaurant) which treated me much more politely and filled my order in less than 4 minutes (Ooki typically takes 10 to 15 minutes). I will miss ordering from Ooki, but I can not tolerate a lack of courtesy from management."
