"We really wanted to like Southern Belle's, we heard a lot of great things about the restaurant. Unfortunately, you can't always trust the opinion of others. The restaurant is located in downtown Barrington, its a beautiful building, the inside of the building beautifully decorated, very clean and modern looking. The waitstaff was extremely friendly, attentive, and kind. The issue was the food quality. Being a southern style restaurant, you expect a few great things, one of those being biscuits. So we ordered the buiscuit basket, the irish bennedict, and biscuits and gravy. The server brought the biscuits out, and we immediately thought BISQUICK.... (see pictures attached) they were cold, lumpy, and tasteless..... again, a southern restaurant should have good biscuits. Unfortunately, these did not come close to how a biscuit should look or taste. The coffee tasted like the grounds had been re-brewed again, and the orange juice tasted watered down. Our entrées were brought out, and boy were they disappointing. The irish bennidict eggs were aqueous and runny. The buiscuits and gravy we made with the same sub-par buscuits and the gravy tasted like it was made with the powder mix you get at Jewel. The gravy was tasteless. The only good item at Southern Bells were the hash browns. Due to their inability to make real buiscuits, we feel the Southern Food Comission should be contacted, and the name southern should be removed from this restaurants name. We give the building and the service staff a 10 out of 10, but the food is a negative 1. Due to the food quality and the cost per person, for sub-par food, we do not recommend this restaurant, and we will not be back."

"Tony's embodies the essence of comforting, home-cooked meals served in a straightforward setting with friendly staff and affordable prices. On our first visit, my friend recommended I try their Chicken Paprikash, one of their signature dishes, which I ordered with their homemade dumplings. The meal also came with a generous slice of bread and access to their soup and salad bar. The soup of the day was Chicken Rice, and it was reminiscent of something your grandmother would make: warm, comforting, and packed with chicken flavor. The salad bar was simple but satisfying, offering a range of greens, toppings, and dressings. I was particularly thrilled to find a French/Catalina dressing, which took me back to my childhood, as it was a staple in our house. Now, onto the main event: the Chicken Paprikash! The portion was enormous, far more than I could finish in one sitting, but I dove in anyway. The dish was topped with a thick, creamy sauce filled with tender pieces of chicken, beautifully flavored with paprika and enriched with sour cream. The dumplings beneath were the true highlight; they had a texture similar to spaetzle but were shaped like small, flat discs—almost like orecchiette. Their delightful chewiness perfectly complemented the Paprikash. A side of extra sour cream added a touch of indulgence, though it wasn't necessary. On our second visit, the soup of the day was chicken dumpling, which was pure comfort food—perfect for a cold, snowy day. The broth was thick and creamy, brimming with chicken and those remarkable dumplings from the Paprikash. I was glad I hadn’t ordered a substantial entrée, as I could have easily made a meal out of the soup alone. Once again, I left feeling satisfied, wishing there was a Tony's closer to home. I would definitely be a regular! Excellent work, Tony's!"
