"It's disheartening to note that it feels nearly impossible to receive even basic decency, let alone good customer service, if you are Black. Unless you actively seek assistance, you might as well be invisible, as staff members often bypass Black customers, including groups of us.
Right now, I'm sitting inside the restaurant, waiting for a to-go order that I had to fight to place. I had to remind the staff member who finally approached me that I should be served first, rather than the white and Mexican gentlemen in line behind me. I stood at the podium for about five minutes and even rang the service bell after a minute. When I finally got the attention of the staff, the girl looked at me with disbelief and asked, “How can I help you?”
From now on, I'll be making the trip to Terrell for my Thai food. I almost forgot to mention that I found a beetle in my daughter's ice cream!
In summary, while the food features decent Thai and Taiwanese snacks, the service and atmosphere are incredibly disappointing. What a letdown.
UPDATE (20 minutes after writing this): Despite all the poor treatment, I received my order incomplete and packaged in a Staples bag. I tried calling the restaurant, but I was put on hold and ultimately hung up on."
