"Summary of our experience:1) Arrive at restaurant. Promptly seated, as there were several tables available.2) After 15 minutes a waiter visited the table to take our order. He didn't write anything down.3) 45 minutes after taking our order, and after we started to stare at our server each time he passed, he rushed over to our table with a plate of onion bhajee. He explained that "there was a mistake in the kitchen, so your food is delayed. But please have this for now. Your food will be out in 5 minutes." Ok, we'll go with it. Unfortunately the onion bhajee was truly bland. They were completely unseasoned. No salt, no nuthin'. They tasted like unseasoned corn meal paste. They were accompanied by a small green salad that was smothered in French dressing straight out of a bottle.4) The "5 minutes" turned into another 15. At this point we've been seated for an hour and a quarter. A server comes rushing to our table, places our dishes on the table and proudly announces "Chicken tikka masala, mushroom curry, and naan." Great. Perfect. Except that the only one of those three that we actually ordered was the mushrooms. The naan was supposed to be paratha. The chicken was supposed to be an entirely different lamb dish. As soon as I mentioned this, they started to grab the plates off the table. I said "We've been here for almost an hour and a half. It's late enough that other restaurants are closing. We're not starting over again. Just leave it, and we'll eat it."5) So we ate it. The mushroom dish had obviously been rushed. The mushrooms and other vegetables were almost, but not quite, raw. They were completely unseasoned (a recurring theme). The chicken tikka masala tasted like chicken with raw tomato paste. Granted, chicken tikka masala is one of those fake Indian dishes anyway, so I don't expect much. But my wife commented "I've had better from a frozen TV dinner". She was right. The naan... well, it looked pretty good. But it tasted like raw flour.6) To try to make up for the lapses, we were offered a free dessert. As soon as he offered it, I knew exactly what it would be. It turned out that I was dead on: Gulab Jamun, straight out of a can.Overall, the entire experience was a disappointment from start to finish. The next time we're in Montreal, we'll find somewhere else to dine."
