"I can never get enough of enjoying a perfect day outdoors by the water, savoring delicious food while listening to music, and that was exactly how my day unfolded today. I’ll elaborate a bit more beyond just a brief review. Bert’s is located along the route to Pine Island in Matlacha, which is a delightful journey filled with vibrant restaurants and shops.
It was our first visit, so we fully embraced the tourist experience. Although all the tables on the deck were occupied, a friendly couple invited us to join them, leading to a lovely conversation. You can’t beat the kindness in Florida, even if you’ve recently moved here from Pittsburgh. It was a wonderful start to our late lunch.
When it comes to food, which is truly important to me, I began with a rich and flavorful Clam Chowder. It was full of clams and tasted fantastic. I asked our server what the most popular dishes were, and she recommended two: the Fish Tacos and the Fish Chips. I opted for the Fish Chips.
These Fish Chips were nothing like the traditional English version; there was no newspaper wrap and thankfully, no excess oil. Instead of thick-cut fries, there were very thin and light potato chips (maybe they needed a little more seasoning). Rather than having large pieces of battered fish, there were small, delectable fish nuggets that were light yet full of flavor. I also tried some deep-fried oysters, which I enjoyed very much.
Parking can be somewhat tricky. In addition to the spots directly in front of the restaurant, Bert's has some additional parking spaces available. We parked at the far end of the shopping district and walked over the bridge, which gave us a lovely chance to take in the surroundings.
All in all, Bert's was an excellent choice for us today."
