"As we were finishing up, we mentioned to our waiter that we were picking up an Uber Eats order on our way out. He communicated this to the staff handling the delivery orders, which included a young woman who seemed quite unhappy about the situation. When she brought the food to our table, she asked me to confirm the order, which I did. Despite this, she still refused to hand us the bag, leading me to tell my boyfriend to "get the bag." Again, she insisted she needed to see my phone, even though I had already shown it to her. After demonstrating it once more, she finally handed over the food, but not without displaying a snarky attitude.
After retrieving my order, I noticed that I had received a negative review from a merchant, which was surprising since I had no negative reviews from either customers or merchants prior to this. The note stated I had "ignored pick up instructions." Realizing this must have come from the young woman, I went back to the restaurant in San Jose to clarify what instructions I had supposedly ignored, as I felt this unjustly impacted my previously perfect rating.
The manager was very understanding and apologized, stating we had done nothing wrong and that their establishment didn’t typically issue negative reviews. He pulled up my order on the tablet and confirmed that the negative review was indeed linked to my pickup. Meanwhile, the girl was standing nearby, pacing and shaking her head as I explained the situation to the manager. I asked her directly what instructions I hadn’t followed, and she claimed she hadn’t asked for confirmation, despite the clear evidence to the contrary.
While I considered asking the manager to review the security footage, I decided that wasn’t necessary; I just wanted the review removed. The manager was experiencing some technical difficulties but assured me he would reach out to Uber to address the issue. I plan to return today to follow up since it was closing time last night when I left. Overall, the experience was quite upsetting, overshadowing what had been a wonderful evening."
