"We stopped at the Tumbleweed on our drive home, and we walked into the definition of Tex-Mex! From the antler chandeliers to the potted cacti to the country music blaring from the speakers, everything about the restaurant screamed south of the border . Of course, every good Mexican restaurant needs margaritas! Tumbleweed checked that box, as well as offering a full bar with draft beers, hard seltzers, and even full bottles of wine! The hostesses were very friendly and gave us the choice of a table or a booth. Our waitress was outstanding! She remembered all of our orders without having to write them down, and she kept our drinks full. However, there were a couple of problems at the restaurant, which is my reason for deducting 2 stars. 1) The bathrooms were dirty (boxes of paper towels strewn about the counter, grimy floors) 2) The menus were covered in grease, they were sticky, and mine had a spot of dried salsa on one of the pages. Despite these issues, everyone enjoyed their meals. The best part was definitely the chips! They were thin, salty, and packed a nice crunch. The queso was also delicious; we finished a large order in less than 10 minutes! We ordered the hot salsa, and I hardly tasted any spice. I imagine that the mild must taste as bland as ketchup. Our entrees were good--nothing special, but they certainly filled our bellies after a long day of traveling."

"We never eat out anymore, but I was craving some queso, I didn't want to cook..So we decided to call in for carry out. I get it's a Saturday, and I'm sure they were a bit busy...but some advice staff, if someone calls and asks if they can order carry out..if you are slammed say so!! Give a wait time, something. Most of us have worked on food service get it. First off when the girl answered she just said Yeah. I wasn't sure at first I even called the right number. I asked if I could order carry out. She said Yeah, one minute put me on hold..10+ minutes later, nothing.. It was just one red flag after another. This is the second time something like this has happened and prevented us from even eatting there. They insinuated last time we actually ordered they were busy, and when we got there they were dead so Idk this time if it was they were busy or lazy...It's a 50/50 anymore if the staff is kind and helpful, or trash.. idk why this location is like this, the one in New Albany is and has always been amazing. Food and staff. Considering it's almost $50 for our usual order of 2 burritos, rice, beans, and queso that has shrank to half the size it once was. It's just not worth it. The last time we attempted to order is the same day of the last few reviews with photos of the food looking like a mess. So I guess it's a good thing the girl ghosted me tonight. We will not be back anytime soon... We ended up going out and seeing who had the shortest line...It was Taco Bell by Rural King. They were polite, professional, that girl at the window had the cleanest, most pressed unform I've ever seen, hair neat, she was adorable. Our food was hot, correct, tasted good, extra sauce without asking, the bag was even organized so nothing was crushed, quickly done...You got outdone by Taco Bell. Tumbleweed needs to reevaluate themselves and some of their staff.."

"I shouldn't have. Like many in the area, I grew up on Tumbleweed. As a young kid, I thought I was eating authentic Mexican food. : I have fond memories of meals at Tumbleweed over the years, especially from the Dutchmans Lane location, which is now a Wild Eggs. I don't eat at Tumbleweed very often anymore, but once a year or so, I like to come back. I found myself out at lunchtime alone the other day while running errands, and thought I'd get some chips/queso and white chili. I opted to sit in the bar area. I had a small queso for $4.99 that was very small. This is absolutely ridiculous considering places like El Nopal charge $3.00 for a bigger size of the white cheese dip, which is so much better. The salsa at Tumbleweed has a thicker texture than most, but the flavor isn't bad; it's also chunky. It may not be my favorite, but I like it once and a while. The queso is the yellow processed kind, but it's actually tasty, albeit overpriced. I had the avocado white chicken chili, which was pretty good. It comes in a tortilla shell with avocado on the bottom and is poured at the table. Alongside, is a piece of jalapeño cornbread that's good and a tiny side of sour cream. The chili could've used a little more seasoning (cumin, in particular , but it wasn't bad. I wished there had been more avocado and a bigger side of sour cream. The side of sour cream was a joke. The service sufficed, but was not great. The food was okay. They are just not competitively priced to be such a run-of-the-mill kind of place. For a place like Tumbleweed to continue to survive, I think they need some menu and service improvements and they definitely need coupons, price reductions/bigger portions, and maybe some specials to remain competitive. I would've given three stars if they weren't overpriced for their portion size. I don't think I will be coming back here anytime soon."
