"I had a negative experience at Oriental Chop Suey yesterday, where it seemed they attempted to scam my nephew and niece. After they placed their order, the cashier charged their card $26.60, but instead of providing a receipt and returning the card, she kept swiping it, claiming the transaction hadn't gone through. She repeated this process multiple times.
In an effort to clarify, my niece and nephew showed her their Cash App transactions, proving she was mistaken about the charge. Instead of resolving the issue, they asked for a refund, but she refused and even called the police on them—despite them showing her proof of payment. They faced unwarranted verbal insults and were labeled as liars.
To make matters worse, the restaurant staff went as far as to block the lobby with a bench, creating a physical barrier between themselves and the customers, which only added to the absurdity of the situation. Their reaction was completely disproportionate, and the only real wrongdoing here was the apparent attempt to take their money.
I was infuriated by how vulnerable the kids were made to feel. Thankfully, they called us right away to help de-escalate the situation and stayed calm until we arrived. It was distressing to find so many police officers present, given the circumstances, and the entire experience was humiliating for everyone involved.
I shudder to think how many other customers may have been treated this way. This establishment's refusal to address their mistake has left a bad impression on me. After everything was resolved, they didn't even apologize to my niece and nephew for their attempts to take their money and for creating such a hostile atmosphere.
It's disheartening to see a small business behave this way in our community, especially since we had hoped to support them. This first experience was so off-putting that we will definitely never return.
