"This is actually a favorite restaurant (a bit noisy if not careful to request seating away from live entertainment); we love the food... This is more about ensuring the restaurant gets direct feedback so they can manage food allergy orders differently going forward (not something we’ve experienced previously ourselves as we’re able to order directly off the menu).. One of our guests has food allergies and requested no dairy... The waitress was not familiar enough with the menu items such that our friend had to make different choices (two times) and they still botched the delivery. Particulars: After first round of orders taken and delivered to kitchen, Maggie returned to advise braised short rib tacos were marinated in buttermilk; so order changed to chicken...in a short while Maggie came back again advising chicken also marinated in buttermilk; finally, special accommodation was made and taco dinner changed to short rib birria (with assurances it had no dairy)...our friend requested again (to be sure) not to add cheese, etc. When the food arrived for three out of four of us, our friend prompted us to “eat while hot” and we did... Several bites in, Maggie returns advising one of the taco plates already delivered was actually the the special order for my friend and that she gave it to the wrong guest... With a cheesy taco plate in hand, Maggie delivered it to the intended guest who started to return the plate he already began to eat... My friend with the food allergy tried to simplify and said he’d be fine finishing the food already deliver (and already partly consumed) to save time (i.e., we had theater plans and still had a short drive ahead of us)... Maggie did offer to prepare a replacement meal but for sake of time my friend opted out... We discovered this restaurant via friends’ recommendation and we’ve since also made recommendations to others... The above handling of my friends meal was a mess and a bit of an embarrassment considering our advance praise."

"The Diplomat is great. They weren 't quite ready to seat us when we showed up (we were early), so we got to sit at the bar and enjoy a cocktail. As soon as the dining room was set up, they fetched us and brought us to our table. This was a pretty good indication of the service to come we were well taken care of the entire evening. The bar staff worked with my girlfriend to create a non alcoholic mocktail drink based on her taste preferences. The waitress, as well as a number of staff members, made sure our glasses were always full and our table was always stocked with food. The food was delicious. The date carpaccio was sweet and paired well with the saltier fontina cheese it was served with. I usually don 't like steak fries, but the fries were actually a good mix between crispy and fluffy, and came out perfectly. The chicken in a biscuit was a fun take on a classic, though it felt like more biscuit than chicken. I didn 't love the flavor profile of the pork cheek, but it was flawlessly tender. The peanut butter pie for dessert was to die for. The atmosphere inside is really fun, modern without being stuffy. Plenty of art adorns the walls and there 's plenty to look at. The dining room wasn 't crowded at all and was not at all noisy. We felt very comfortable there. The prices feel a little high for the food you get, but that tends to be the way with small plates dining. In addition, the attentive service The Diplomat offers justifies the price a little more. Overall, a spot on dining experience."

"A friend and I came here for dinner yesterday evening Monday . We had a reservation and were sat 10min after; place was packed!Decor is cute and earnest and generally the vibes were good. Good for couples or smaller groups, every table was very lively. That said, it was raining that evening and there weren’t umbrellas for patio seating had heaters instead . Not sure about that move.We opted for the “Classics” set menu for $58pp, which included: Ora King Salmon Pork Dumplings Nasi Goreng Butter Chicken Dry Aged Branzino Jasmine Rice Roti Thai Tea PuddingFood was good, but not excellent and none of the dishes particularly stood out, except for the dessert which we really enjoyed and the branzino which was very dry. Additionally, ordering the set menu for 2 was no better value than simply ordering dishes individually and I wish we had done that. Worth noting that there are no hard spirits on the drink menu — only wine and 2 wine-based cocktails.Food came out quickly, but we felt rushed by the pacing of each course and had the effect of feeling like an assembly line and preparation not being totally fresh; rice was dry, roti stiff, fish dry like it had been sitting a while. This was compounded by being approached by our server to pay for our meal “my manager asked that you close out your tab before I leave” before dessert had been served; server should instead say he’s leaving us in the hands of his manager. Also, weirdly we were not offered any knives in our flatware and dishes came without serving spoons every time. No offers to replace the small plates between the curry and saucy fish either. We spilled some rice early on in the meal oops , but it was never cleaned off the table despite new courses coming and going. I’ll chalk this up to management needing to tighten up training and work out the kinks in ops.Maybe it was an off night, but I think more attention to the details would go a long way and make Cobi’s a real winner. We had a fun evening, and may swing by to try other dishes, but wouldn’t rush to return."
