"My fiancé and I ordered off the Chinese Menu. She ordered the Lo Mein and I ordered the Sesame Chicken. Both dishes were delicious. If you are wondering whether to order the small or large portion, just know it took me two separate meal times to finish my large dish. The large portion would be good to share with someone, or good to save for the next day's leftovers. We will definitely be returning customers. Friendly service and fresh food."

"My family and I have been ordering from Hunan Star for over 8 years and not one time have we been disappointed! Their food is always served hot and yummy! Hands down the best Chinese/Asian food in town! If you ever get tired of just doing take-out, I’d recommend actually dining in! The service is amazing and we never leave hungry. "We have visited this restaurant at least four times and ordered takeout once, and every experience has been truly outstanding—there hasn’t been a single dish we didn’t enjoy. The owners and staff are exceptionally friendly, and the atmosphere is clean and welcoming, with regular patrons often chatting and joking with the owners. Even though we live about 25 minutes away, we’ve made the trip specifically to enjoy this restaurant, rather than just because we happened to be in the area. We definitely plan to return. Everything we’ve tried has been delicious. My last dish was a fantastic spicy eggplant with shrimp and chicken, while my husband couldn’t stop praising his kung pao chicken—something he has tried at many other places. Our sons also loved their meals and the dishes we shared. Make sure not to miss out on this gem!"

"A mixed bag this time around: Order was correct; delivery was timely and courteous, no problem there; and their Wonton Eggdrop Soup was wonderful as always. However, the other items were not up to Spring Garden's usual excellent standard. The meat in the White Meat General Tso's Chicken was very dry, tough, and skimpy. And while the shrimps in the Shrimp w/ Lobster Sauce were fresh and ample sized, the sauce wasn't what we expected not spoiled or bad, just odd tasting. Maybe we're just used to a different type of Lobster Sauce, or maybe Spring Garden was just having an off day, who knows? In any event they're still on our go to list and we'd definitely be happy to order from them again; we just hope next time they'll be back to their usual five star quality."

"I absolutely adore this restaurant! They are incredibly fast and efficient when preparing my orders, and they’ve never made a mistake. I’m very pleased with the quality of the food and I highly recommend the wontons. My only drawback is the pricing. For my husband and me, it typically comes to around $50, and I wish it was a bit more affordable. We would definitely order from here more often if the prices were lower."

"DO NOT EAT HERE! We ordered the vegetable lo mein and the pork fried rice. We found BUGS in our food. We only discovered this after we left the area so we were not able to go back to the restaurant and ask for our refund. We had to call and the woman absolutely refused. We were yelled at and argued with the entire phone call which ended with an abrupt hang up. She would not give us our money back but instead offered us more food. Why would I want MORE food from a place that served us bugs? The customer service was almost as garbage as the food was."

"This location is located inside the Shoprite in South Plainfield. The sushi are placed on refrigerated shelves. The rolls are regular size. There are options for appetizers too. But sometimes the rice can become hard due to the refrigeration. The prices for the rolls are similar to any sushi restaurant. If you're in a hurry for a quick sushi fix, it will be fine."

"The food here is absolutely terrible. Last night, I ordered Beef with Broccoli, but I couldn't even identify what kind of meat was in it. It definitely wasn't beef, and I couldn't tell if it was pork or chicken either. The dish was almost completely flavorless, except for a strange and unpleasant aftertaste. The so-called "garlic sauce" was just a tasteless mixture of oil and some unidentifiable grease from the meat. My egg roll was dry, small, and mostly dough, while the BBQ spare ribs were overcooked and also dry. I ended up having to toss the whole Beef with Broccoli order because I had no idea what I was eating, found the flavor disgusting, and was worried it might make me sick. Without a doubt, this is the worst Chinese food I've ever had in my life."

"Beware!!! We both got food poisoning!!! We had the egg drop soup, house lo mein, egg food young, pupu platter, orange chicken and general tso chicken. We got delivery in the evening. Everything seemed to be ok. I ate a little and was fine for about 4 hours, then was sick for the next 30 hours. My bf had more the next day and he was sick all night last night. "Unfortunately wasn't a big fan. The food was just very bland overrall. While Chinese food tends to usually run pretty salty and flavorful, both the chow fun and Szechuan chicken I tried were lacking in spice, flavor and salt. The fried rice also was a bit soggy and didn't have nearly enough soy sauce. Food was also a tad bit pricier than the average Chinese takeout but the portions were rather generous and the food came out very quickly. If you're expecting spicy food though, this is not the place for it."

"I used to go here quite often when I worked in the area. Well, after a couple of years, I was in the area and was craving some Kenny's. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken. After 4 bites into it, I pulled out a long strand of hair. It was not mine because of the color and length. I thought about finishing up the meal, but then the mere thought of what was in it affected my appetite. The food is good but I recommend that they wear some hair nets to to prevent these things from falling in. If you go, I recommend that you eat really fast and not look at it because you might find other things upon careful inspection."

"This was hands down the worst Chinese food I've ever had in my life. I should have known when I walked in at 530 pm and there wasn't a sole inside and no takeout orders lined up. The food was wrong so we had to drive back and wait 15 minutes mind you no one else was there and wait for the order to be corrected. While we were waiting someone walked out with a bottle from the bar because there was no one there watching either. The glass door to come in was shattered not sure what that was about. When we got home we decided the taste and experience of the food was a disgrace and we'll never return again."
