"Me and my boyfriend decided to stop here when visiting WV. We sat down and ordered a drink and soup and one appetizer shortly after. Awhile later we ordered our entrees, we both got the Black and Bleu Sirloin. After waiting almost an hour it arrived. Our whipped potatoes looked nothing liked that or previous patrons. The brussel sprouts were bland. My boyfriend cuts into his steak which was supposed to be medium but it was brown all the way thru and dry and you could barely chew it. My medium rare steak was perfect but could use some more seasoning. We split mine together since we wanted to get back on the road and we knew no one would be checking in with us for awhile. When the server did come to check in with us she was very nice and we let her know about the issue with his steak. We declined another one to be made because of the time that it took and quality of the food, just wasn’t worth it. I ordered their flourless cake togo. I assume a manager came by because he didn’t introduce himself and asked us what was going on. We explained the situation he seemed to imply that our server had not gotten my boyfriends order wrong with a I wish I would have known” after asking how my boyfriend got it done. I find this hard to believe since mine was cooked perfect. It seemed like someone forgot about the steak tbh. The manager decided to comp the item and apologize. He then decided to clear our table before leaving us and his anger was so visible that he proceeds to borderline slam the plates together causing them to fall all over the table and it took twice as long as it should have bc of this behavior.I want to add that after looking at past reviews how unprofessional it is to bash your own serving staff and calling them slow and lazy. The way your serving staff acts is a direct reflection of how management is treating them. I’m sure they don’t know what to do anymore with management being so easily riled and who knows how they act towards the staff if they would act like that in front of us. I’m sure having to constantly serve food that it overpriced and under seasoned and wait don’t forget inconsistent is hard as well."

"On Friday night at 7. you wait about 7 minutes to sit at a table. The place was about 7/8 full, I guess. They seemed a little shorthanded. They took our drink order pretty fast. Our drinks arrived within 5 minutes. She ordered us shortly after. We've probably waited a little more than 10 minutes until our food comes out. The waitress was not very friendly and had no personality. We were there probably 45 minutes. She might have checked us three times. She just didn't seem good. Maybe a bad night, I'm not sure. It was busy so she was just tired. I ordered the Philly cheese steak with onion rings. It was pretty good. They stacked my onion rings on my Philly. Don't complain. The plate was not very large, but the onion rings were a decent size. Eating was good, no complaints. My sister had the chicken Alfredo and complained that it tasted like cream of mushroom soup that comes in a can. She was the only one of us (party of five) who had any problem with the taste of food. The restaurant was lit. We had to sit in the back. We had to go through the door to the kitchen to go to the restroom and go. I was almost hit by the door at my out because the staff came out. So be aware when you go through this area. There's not really much protection. After we left, I realized I left my phone. We called it and no answer. A waitress called us back and said the phone stayed at the restaurant. She met me outside the restaurant and was very nice. I thanked her and we went. She seemed to be in a much better mood than our waitress."

"I wrote a glowing review of this Golf Course restaurant just a year ago. I’ve since used it only for a quick “at the turn” eatery until last night. July 15th. I’m sorry to say that the 5 star plus rating of last year is merely a 3 for dining today. For starters the menu on the web site does not exist. Gone are the fine entrees from a year ago. No sirloin, short ribs, scallops, BBQ Ribs. Selections are just about what you’ll find in your neighborhood sports bar. The difference between the two are the number of tv screens you’ll be forced to contend with. Burgers are now a broader selection item on the menu. Gone, too, are the great Lobster Tots and in their place are garlicky fried potato cubes with a dash of parmigiana cheese. My wife had the fish and chips and got three pieces of frozen breaded cod that looked like they came from the near by Costco freezer section. Not at all fresh fish. I had chicken parmigiana which was one piece of chicken fried to near perfect shoe leather quality and linguine with a mild sauce that came in a small oval serving dish. Definitely more a lunch size portion in any of the near by quality restaurants in Westlake or even Elyria. Prices for most entrees were in the $18-$24 range. One perk was my tangeray and tonic came in a 10 once drinking glass and the bar tender was generous in his pour. Definitely not the high quality of just 11 months ago (dinner wise) and I won’t be back for dinner or for a quick stop while playing a round of golf. Don’t know why the restaurant has gone this route and my questions couldn’t be answered by my friendly and capable server , Rick, nor from the hostess. It’s a shame the restaurant industry has fallen off as much as it has. I’ll go out of my way to visit a good establishment with decent atmosphere. Such as Burntwood Tavern on Columbia Rd. In North Olmsted. It will be a while before we give Black River Tavern another try . David B Avon OH"

"I am deeply disappointed with my recent experience at this restaurant. I had high hopes as my wife and i used to be regular customers, often visiting at least once a month. However, this time, everything went horribly wrong. To begin with, they served us water that had mosquitoes swimming and bread inside the bottle. It was utterly disgusting, and I can't fathom how the staff failed to notice such a glaring issue. This out us off from the start, and we felt uncomfortable throughout our meal. Next, we decided to order lemonade juice to wash away the unpleasant taste of the water to anincident. To our dismay, what they brought us seemed to be 99% water and only a tiny hint of lemonade flavor. When we pointed this out to our server, he took the drink back and returned after a few minutes, claiming they had run out of lemonade. It felt like they were trying topass off water as lemonade, and that is truly unacceptable. As if those issues weren't enough, the food we ordered was also a major letdown. It lacked any semblance of taste or quality, leaving us regretting our decision to have lunch there.Overall, this was a dreadful experience that ruined not only our lunch but also our entire day.Considering our previous positive experiences at this restaurant, I expected much better reatment and service. Sadly, this visit has left me feeling utterly upset and disillusioned. I would think twice before returning, and I cannot recommend this place."

"Okay so I want to preface this by APOLOGIZING to Sadie by not leaving my review last night because I was just a little tipsy LOL but I'm keeping my word!!This is my favorite pub, not just because it's like 5 minutes from my house but because our first experience kept us coming back and the staff is literally so nice and we love the vibes here so much. Our first time here was about a year ago and our cat had to go to the emergency vet, we came in at like 1am after crying in the emergency vet and just needing to eat something and it was the only place open near our house. When we came in, we were still friendly but I think the staff could see we were super sad and they were SO sweet and nice and that just really made us feel really good and it's like our regular spot. SADIE IS MY FAVORITE <3 girl I literally love u. I come in probably 4 times a month and she's got my table at least 3 of those times. I've introduced her to my dad and everything haha! She is super sweet, so funny, ALWAYS on top of things as far as taking care of her tables and customers, and she's funny and all around just an amazing person. I'm so glad that I have somewhere to go where I feel comfortable with the staff (I am a nervous nelly). I just had surgery to get my tonsils out and they finally healed, the FIRST place I went was James Joyce to get those buffalo wings <3 they are THE BEST. So crispy and always perfect. SADIE thank you for always being the best, you are literally like a light floating around the pub!! Can't wait to see you in two weeks probably LOL"
