"While on a cross country road trip, my wife and I stayed overnight in Tucumcari. While there, we decided to find a place to eat on historic Route 66. Well, there didn't seem to be many places, but Cornerstone First Edition Pizza Subs looked promising, so we gave it a try. As I was looking over the menu, I overheared the food server tell another customer that they were known for their pizzas and subs and that one of the most popular pizzas was the chile relleno pizza. So I ordered it. My wife ordered a SopePizza, which is kind of like a Mexican sopapilla, but filled with pizza ingredients. Both were very good. The pizza sauce on the SopePizza was excellent and full of flavor. The chile relleno pizza was also flavorful, but quite hot with spice. I braved it out and ate most of it, but I don't do well with very spicy foods. But if you love hot and spicy, give it a try! Our server was quite friendly. However, the place seemed somewhat understaffed with, from what I could tell, were two people doing all the taking orders (both phone and in restaurant), cooking, serving, and bussing tables. A third staff person was on food delivery duty, and the place seems to have thriving to-go and delivery services. With the staff stretched thin, they did their best to juggle all the duties required of them, but it was understandable that the service to the tables wasn't the fastest. But overall, it was a good experience and if I stay in Tucumcari again, I would definitely go back. I just wouldn't order the chille relleno pizza next time!"
