"Overrated. Disappointed bc we had heard great things. The look of the restaurant does not match the service. Lack of training for staff. Obtrusive, pushy, overly comfortable, and self aggrandizing kind of service. The food was meh, the wine was expensive and mediocre. The lighting, art and “look” of the restaurant was classy and smooth but did not match the experience or faint 80s rock playing. The steak was ok, cream spinach was weird, but the steak tartare appetizer was incredible. Instead of politeness with a smile— the servers and hostess we encountered were over sharing and made the experience about themselves. More casual and informal interactions like you would expect from a diner rather than the classiness you would expect from a place that charges 100+ per steak. Friendliness is always appreciated but in these scenarios it was intrusive and seemed like a tactic to save face for bad hospitality. Unintentional rudeness followed by oversharing to build rapport. Interrupting our conversation to ask personal questions about us or steering an inquiry about menu towards a personal story. Experienced with both the server and hostess. When I asked for a different glass of wine and expressed not liking the one I had ordered they asked “ really, why?” and insisted on doing an impromptu wine tasting instead of just letting me order a different wine. I had to wait too long before I could actually enjoy wine with my meal. Which was a bad call on waiters part bc he was already in the weeds and had asked a neighboring server to take our order for him. The dinner took an eternity and we were drowsy by the end of it. The second server who helped was wonderful and was the person giving recommendations and checking if we liked our food. At the end of the meal our server insisted that we order dessert and hinted that it would be free bc of hiccups with service but we were so over it and just wanted to get out of there. Better off going to capital grill."
