"Yesterday we had tough steaks at 1776. Despite that, we have had many great meals there over the years and it is a fantastic restaurant for special occasions. We went for a birthday dinner and started with a well-made cocktail and a Spaten beer from their wide beer selection. The fried scallop chips with horseradish cream dipping sauce were delicious as a shared appetizer. We also enjoyed French onion soup before our main courses of filet mignon and ribeye, both cooked perfectly to medium. The service from Therese was excellent. Unfortunately, both steaks were unexpectedly tough to chew last night. We should have mentioned it, but didn't. Hopefully, it was just a one-off issue."
