"La Cocina of Clayton, NC is one of those restaurants where Five Stars is not enough. When entering you are greeted and seated immediately. No shortage of staff here. After being seated someone will take your drink order deliver chips to your table and look after you very quickly. When dining at the Clayton La Cocina the only issue I ever find is, just how high of a percentage of tip I should leave. This time it was 35%. I wish I could patronize this business two or three times a week. It never lets me down."

"I have been a customer here since about a year after they opened. This is my favorite place to eat outside of my home. The food exceeds my expectations and is affordable enough my family can eat here weekly even with current economics. When we come here we feel cared for by the staff. Enough so that when we see changes in the staff we miss the ones who are no longer there and always ask if they went to some place even better and we try to build up a rapport with the new members of the staff. We come here for regular meals and we celebrate occasions here as well. I have resisted leaving a review for years but I am very happy that Hacienda has been able to survive the past few years. I normally come here with my family that my family is out of town right now visiting more distant relatives and even though I came by myself and our preferred waiter was not here other members of the staff recognized me and immediately asked where my family was. To me this personal connection is worth a lot. This is the right combination of quality quantity economy and service."

"I ordered a fish soup, and it was outstanding! I was searching for a place to have dinner and usually rely on reviews, but this time I didn’t check, and I was completely blown away. This Mexican restaurant is very clean and feels genuinely authentic; the soup reminded me of Mexico. If you want a cozy and spotless spot with an amazing atmosphere, look no further—this place is a must-visit if you’re in the area. The only downside to my visit was that I would have liked to see a bit more fish in the soup; the portion was a little on the small side for my appetite, but it was still very satisfying. Thank you all for your excellent service and dedication—I will definitely come back again and again! There’s plenty of parking in the back, and if you're a truck driver like me, you can park a block down the road and walk back; it's definitely worth it. They serve beer and more!"

"We should have known better. My husband and I have passed by this restaurant numerous times, and perhaps we should have just kept going. I ordered a fish entrée, while my husband chose the steak tampiquena. Our meals arrived promptly, but that’s where the positives ended for us. His steak was incredibly thin, overcooked, and overly salty—so salty that each bite left a pronounced taste of salt on his tongue. The cheese enchilada that accompanied it was dry, and the sauce tasted straight out of a can. As for my fish, it was charred and bitter on the bottom, with an excessive amount of salt. The minced garlic on top was clearly from a jar, and the mixed vegetables underneath were clearly frozen. When it was time to ask for the bill, we waited ten minutes for our server to return from the bar area, where they appeared to be watching TV. Overall, this was the worst dining experience we’ve had, so we won’t be returning!"

"I enjoyed a delicious meal at this restaurant, although I received steak instead of the barbecued meat I had ordered. The service was prompt, and the prices were quite reasonable. I don't mind paying a bit more for great food, but here, the prices were fair, especially with the tasty daily special they offer. The seasonings and sauces could be a bit limited, so feel free to ask for extra if you prefer a stronger flavor. I've visited this restaurant several times with my mother and grandmother and sampled a range of dishes, including quesadillas, pupusas, nachos, grilled shrimp, carne asada, plantains, rice, guacamole, chips and salsa, and pico de gallo. I highly recommend this place."

"To be honest, I'm not usually a big fan of seafood, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good this place was. The octopus exceeded my expectations, and the ceviche was fantastic! The bacon-wrapped shrimp? Absolutely delicious. The stuffed seafood pepper was very tasty as well. Even when I decided to step outside my comfort zone, the margaritas were perfect for washing it all down (and keep in mind, I'm not really into seafood). I’ll definitely be coming back!"

"This restaurant gives off a vibe similar to Ensenada in Baja California! The fish and vegetables are fresh. If you prefer your shrimp uncooked and marinated in a lime/lemon mixture, be sure to ask about the order beforehand. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of seafood you receive. The seafood towers are huge, so much so that the take-out box may not close if you order them. Don't be intimidated by this, it just means they are well-portioned. The restaurant is very busy, so be prepared to wait up to an hour. The wait is worth it, so relax on the patio and enjoy the mariachi music on weekends. The tostadas are addictive, and you can even purchase a bag of them to go. Some people find the dishes to be lightly flavored, so be sure to ask for extra salsa to spice it up. There are several options available on the table, including habanero, salsa Negra, and tapatio. Be sure to customize your meal to your liking, and don't forget to ask for extra lemon if you want it."
