"The first red flag was a man slumped over in a chair as we approached the entrance. Our server seemed unsure about the drink options and was also acting as the bartender. We ordered queso and salsa for an appetizer, but when we requested two different beers she initially claimed they had, she returned to inform us they were out. When my partner asked for Moscato, she replied that they didn’t serve it. Only after we ordered our pizzas did she bring us a drink menu, which surprisingly included Moscato.
We then ordered an Old Fashioned and a strawberry Patron margarita. The server complained that the Old Fashioned was the most difficult drink to make. I switched to ordering a shot of whiskey with a beer instead. When she brought out the margarita, she hesitated, saying, "I hope it tastes okay." I noted her lack of confidence and she admitted, "I’m not really a bartender, so I’m not sure if it’s going to taste good or not; I didn’t ring it up just in case." To our disappointment, it was awful.
As the evening wore on, we decided to take our pizza to go because the server began taking FaceTime calls while walking around, and it became clear that the man slumped in the chair was her partner. She seemed distracted and inattentive. Despite the poor experience, I made sure to leave a 20% tip because I understand that everyone can have an off day. However, I’ll definitely think twice about returning. We don’t have date nights often, and we want them to be memorable, but this one was forgettable. On the bright side, the pizza was pretty good once we got home."
