"I pass Dosey Doe on the way to work but had thought it was just a place for live music and bar food. On a whim a friend and I met others there for a lunch. The diningroom was empty one other table had a gentlemen finishing his meal. I was hoping it was just quiet due to an earlier lunch (11:30). Our waitress was quick to the table, dropped off menus and took our drink order (sweet tea, please) and zipped back to her stations. We reviewed the ALL DAY BREAKFAST menu with hints of our Cancun vacation (migas) and elevated fare (benedict) alongside the old timey favorites of chicken fried steak with pepper gravy. I was torn as the other side of the menu promised BBQ and a slew of other southern lunch favorites. Smack in the middle is the promise of a sweet Argentinian empanada with fruits and cream. We had the chicken fried steak and gravy with biscuit, the eggs benedict and brisket and pulled port tacos. We started with the chicken fried steak bites with gravy for dipping because....yes. I wish now I had taken pictures, but we were hungry and it was smelling awesome. The meal came out quickly and it was AMAZING. The BBQ was a mix of lean and fatty brisket in two taco and the pork butt in the other. The right amount of smoke the meat was tender and delicious. It was garnished with onions, cilantro and lime with a side of BBQ sauce and a creative derivation on succotash. It had corn and peppers and tomato and was charred to perfection. The benedict seemed a little...homey with the sauce covering a very well contained egg on the english muffin and the hashbrowns were divine. The chicken fried steak covered the plate, as it should and was smothered in gravy. The fresh, hot, steamy, fluffy biscuit was delivered with some fan fare. All in all, we were thrilled with lunch and there were far too many items on the menu that I need to try. Trying (not hard enough) to get a group back for a Sunday brunch hoping it's not too busy. Oh...and the decor was a fun mix of vintage vibes. Mobile pegasus, old radios, dark and brooding. Can't say I'd like it different for it being a whiskey bar another element to try."

"If you find yourself in the Lawrenceville, GA area or driving along Hi Hope Road, you must make it a point to visit this restaurant right away. The food is outstanding! From the exterior, it may not look like much, but there’s a convenient drive-thru at the back for those looking to grab takeout. The menu is impressive, offering all-day breakfast, and yes, they serve gluten-free pancakes upon request! Each dish is well-prepared and made fresh, showcasing a delightful array of creative options. The atmosphere is casual, meaning you can enjoy a great meal without having to dress up. I savored the San Francisco burger, which was exceptional (with a gluten-free bun option available), while my partner enjoyed the tender and flavorful meatloaf with mashed potatoes—it was simply wonderful. My sandwich boasted fantastic bread and perfectly balanced flavors, rivaling those found in both charming diners and upscale restaurants. The meatloaf was moist, bursting with flavor, and featured a delicious grilled exterior that kept it from being dry. The sauce was unique and flavorful, far surpassing the usual brown gravy. Desserts were equally enticing. Although the bananas foster cheesecake was sold out, I indulged in the Oreo churros while my partner tried the soft lemon crème cake topped with raspberry sauce. Be sure to check out their full menu at www.5spotcafelawrencevillega.com; it’s definitely worth at least one visit. The prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is inviting—there's no pretentiousness, even with the high-quality food that could easily command higher prices. We finally have a restaurant in Lawrenceville that could easily compete with those in Buckhead or the beautiful Highlands, NC. I’m thrilled we decided to try it, and I can see this becoming our regular spot. I eagerly await the day Scott obtains his liquor license—what a perfect addition it would be to this already great venue. The convenience of being able to pick up top-notch food at the drive-thru instead of dining in is truly fantastic. This restaurant far surpasses Chili’s carside to go. Scott brings a wealth of experience and creativity while creating a warm, family-friendly environment. The walls are decorated with beautiful artwork, including stunning images of ancient trees by Artemus Blue, which are available for purchase. And for those seeking a gourmet grilled cheese experience, there's a delicious option featuring four cheeses on grilled garlic parmesan sourdough. He even offered us a taste of his homemade ciabatta, which was delightful. For gluten-free diners, there are plenty of options, and if you’re in the mood for a hearty pot roast, you won't be disappointed by its tender, slow-cooked perfection. Lobster mac and cheese is also on the menu—oh my! You can genuinely taste the love and care in every dish. This place deserves recognition on shows like Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, as well as local programs like Burgers With Buck on Fox 5 Atlanta, and should absolutely be mentioned in the AJC. Lawrenceville has officially made its mark on the food scene!"

"I was disappointed with both the service and the food. I placed a to-go order, and the girl who took my order told me it would take 15-20 minutes. When I arrived about 15 minutes later, I paid for my order, only to be told that it would take another 10 minutes. I ended up waiting at a table for them to finish preparing my food. After a while, I checked in again, and another staff member said she would check on my order. She came back to inform me it would be another 10 minutes. By then, I had waited 40 minutes for an everything bagel with eggs and a side of potatoes, along with a breakfast combo that included a biscuit, eggs, grits, and sausage. I checked in yet again, and the girl seemed annoyed by my inquiry, which added to my frustration. The restaurant was busy at that time, but I noticed that customers who had come in after me and placed their orders for coffee and food received everything promptly while I was still waiting. At no point did anyone check in with me to say, “We forgot your order; we’re working on it,” or “The kitchen is backed up.” I would have appreciated that information rather than having to ask repeatedly. After waiting 50 minutes, I approached the counter to request a refund. The same girl who had previously brushed me off noticed my request and just tossed the bag onto the counter. I grabbed it and left, only to find that they hadn’t included any jam or ketchup. The potatoes were lukewarm and not very tasty, the bagel was decent (it's hard to go wrong with a bagel), but the biscuit was dry, and the eggs looked unappetizing. I would not recommend this place. I've included pictures to show what my 50-minute wait resulted in."
