"I was excited about trying this since a friend highly recommended it.My family and I walked in, and the employees just stared at us. There was no greeting, just stares. I walked up to where I thought I could get a menu, still no greeting, buy the two women sitting behind the register. Found a menu next to them and sat down to order. After finally deciding, I go to to ask a question about the menu, the lady was pleasant, surprisingly. She answered all of my questions and was thorough and precise, helped me order, great! We got the food, never said to go, but food was brought in to go containers which is totally fine; really preferred. Started to taste the food and I was just totally disappointed. The ribs tips were so over seasoned and you could tell some of it was old by how hard it to to chew. The green beans had absolutely no flavor. Not even the can taste, just no flavor at all. Now, the Macaroni was delicious. Wish I just ordered that. My boyfriend got the pull pork. I hated it, he tolerated it. He had baked beans for his side, I hated them, but his yams were soooo good. (And I don't usually eat yams . We also ordered a peach cobbler and a pork sausage with chili and slaw. I haven't eaten those, but I hope it's better than the other food.Anyway, I won't be returning. If I do, it'll only be for the yams and macaroni. (Have to say, this place is reasonably priced, but I still will probably never return."

"Southern BBQ pork is a favorite meal. I have it on a solid recommendation that Bono's is the best place to eat a meal with this meat in Jacksonville. I do not live in Jacksonville so I have not tried other places. I have now eaten at two of their restaurants and the results have been very good. On the latest visit, I had a salad with BBQ on top. The salad was fresh, the lettuce was fresh and the pork had excellent flavor. The pork was a little less moist than I prefer. Another person in our party ordered the BBQ pork plate and it was more moist. No idea why the difference, probably just from a different roast. The salad had fresh, light green lettuce that was very crisp. The cucumbers were fresh. My salad came with a boiled egg for an extra charge and it sounded good for including it on a salad. There are a variety of sauces to put on the pork. I went for one that was described as sweet. It was and I liked it very much. The restaurant has a pleasant, informal ambiance. There are not many places where there is a large alligator on the wall. This one appeared to be stuffed and near the entrance. (See the photo of the alligator below. There is a large pit in the restaurant where patrons can see the meat cooking. It is a nice touch and creates an impression this is a good place to eat as the meat is cooked there and it is always fresh. The food was full of flavor, the service was good and atmosphere provided a pleasant place for a lunch. The large American flag on the wall adds to the patriotic atmosphere and seems perfect in a Southern BBQ restaurant!"
