"I work right around the corner from High St. and have heard great things about Society on High from colleagues, so decided to pay it my first visit for the first time a few weeks ago! While I don't want to say I was disappointed, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. The interior and bar area are very well done, and when we arrived (pretty much exactly at noon the place was fairly empty. I was surprised to see this, but it filled up quickly by the time we were gone, it was bustling (like most restaurants around the Financial District typically are during the lunch hour. My only real complaint here was regarding timeliness. We were seated within seconds, but it took quite some time for our waitress to come to our table and it took about half an hour for our order (caesar salad, flatbread ravioli to arrive at our table, despite the fact that the restaurant was only about half full. That being said, I very much enjoyed my flatbread I ordered the prosciutto and arugula, and it was DELICIOUS crispy and filling, and a very generous portion (I was able to take the uneaten part to go, which was more than enough for a dinner serving. The prosciutto and apple on the flatbread was a delicious combo, and I'd definitely order it again for lunch or dinner. We asked for our check as we were finishing up our meal, and it took about half an hour for the waitress to bring it over to our table again, somewhat of a timeliness issue, but the food itself was good enough to return. SOH is so well located, I can see why it's popular but I would love to see a bit of a more efficient experience next time, particularly given the proximity to so many offices."

"I placed a phone order and when I asked about the seafood roll, the employee seemed confused and quickly read through the entire sushi menu. I struggled to understand him because he spoke so fast. Eventually, he mentioned the seafood roll, which was exactly what I had asked for. No big deal, I completed my order and was informed it would take 25 minutes. I arrived about 30 minutes later, only to wait an additional 10 minutes despite the fact that there were no other customers. When I finally got my food, the employee was nice and even showed me the seafood roll, admitting he had never seen it being made before. Since I hadn't eaten all day, I tried it right away and was pleasantly surprised—it was delicious! I also ordered the pork egg rolls (I only received one even though the menu states it comes with two, and I was charged for two), the Natalie roll (which was just okay), and the scallop bowl. Unfortunately, the scallop bowl is the main reason for my low rating. It was inedible. After trying one in the car following the seafood roll, I almost felt sick. It was chewy, tough, bitter, and greasy. Hoping for better, I tried it again at home, but it was still unpleasant. The aftertaste was terrible—bitter and tingly on my tongue. I ended up removing the scallops from the bowl and tried to finish the fried rice and broccoli, but I could still taste the scallops in the rice. Not only was I still hungry, but the meal was also quite expensive."
