"I've never visited a Carvel before, but I know someone who used to work there, so I had high hopes based on the buzz surrounding it. Unfortunately, I found my experience disappointing for several reasons. First, I want to mention that the chocolate ice cream topped with caramel and mini rainbow snowcaps I did try was quite delicious. I typically reserve one or two-star reviews for serious issues like health code violations or staff knowledge regarding allergies and food safety.
I wanted to explore all the flavors and inquire about which ones contained gluten and which did not. However, the employee behind the counter seemed unsure about the gluten-free options and could only make educated guesses. To make matters worse, there was potential cross-contamination between flavors, which is concerning. Each franchise is supposed to have a binder containing allergen and nutritional information, but this location didn’t seem to have one, which I'm pretty sure is against the rules—if it isn't, it certainly should be.
While I really enjoyed the ice cream I had, they were overlooking some fundamental food safety guidelines. On a lighter note, I couldn't help but admire the look of their princess ice cream cake, even though I'm nearly 30. I suppose I still have a bit of a childlike spirit!"
