"Update 11/10/2019: Earlier this year, I had a face to face chat with Tania who is the co-owner of the restaurant along with her husband. It was regarding the review I wrote that I am now updating with that conversation in mind as well as knowing she will read this. I do live in Hyde Park where this restaurant is located on that note too. To the owner: Our conversation is why I upgraded the rating to 4 stars but in the subsequent visits since then, I saw no reason to make it 5 stars and more so since my favorite menu item Pastrami sub) was discontinued. For everyone else: This restaurant has no affiliation with the similarly named River St. Grille on the other end of River St. As noted above, if you want to speak to the owner or her husband Jose you need only ask. One or both would be happy to addresss any concerns or problems with your order. The menu boasts your staple American and Italian comfort foods but starting about five years ago, they started adding more things to the menu. Each year a few new items were added to the menu since then and every now and then they do have special deals on select menu items to draw in customers. One thing I have noticed in few Hyde Park Neighborhood Facebook groups as well as in some of the reviews here is to customers, there isn't a problem until they personally have a problem and then it's the worst place ever. Like I said above, ask to speak to the owner if there is a problem with your order. At least one of them if not both is always there at any given time. I have sampled almost everything they have to offer and in some cases, more than a few times. I'm not sold on the pizzas personally and I have tried quite a few. It's more personal preference than anything else. The subs are good to great hot and cold. The meat is generous so if you want to taste something other than meat between the bread, be sure to say so. I would put their subs ahead of Cappy's down the street on the corner of Fairmount Ave. and Truman Parkway) hands down because of the portions alone. The dinners are a bit of a mixed bag overall. The portions across the board are fine but the quality for price is another matter entirely. I have sampled almost all them personally. The chicken wings are obviously fresh wings and hand-breaded before they're fried. My favorite dessert items are the Cheesecake with strawberry topping .50 Cents Exrta for the strawberry topping) and Tres Leches which is clearly made in house). That's it for food. Now on to service. 95% of the time I dine in at the restaurant. The handful of times I ordered delivery, I received my order within an hour. Everything is cooked or made to order. Nothing is prepped in advance and this is why things take a while. It's NOT a fast food restaurant so if don't want to wait, call your order in advance. I have had times where I would make an order over the phone, walk there and it's either ready or being boxed when I arrive. My house is a 20 minute walk on that note. It is a known restaurant but at the same time I feel like they could do more in the area of advertising if they wanna compete with neigboring restaurants. Being one of 3 non-chain options in the area goes both ways and its staying power speaks to its overall quality. I'll end with this: If you are not satisfied with your order, ask to speak with the owner. Your satisfaction is their only concern."

"03/13/2022: 4.85 out of 5 This review is long overdue. I started coming to Coasters Crossing back in December 2021 at the suggestion of a friend of mine that said, Coasters Crossing has the BEST chicken strips... , and honestly, who can ignore that? Not a long time, but there have been many meals since then. So, one of the nights I ran with my running group in Milwaukie, and we all agreed to try Coasters Crossing for dinner. What a surprise! There were many choices on the menu. And, on top of that, the prices were very reasonable. We 've come in for dinner many times together, and separately to introduce others to Coasters Crossing. Many times upon entering, the staff were always quick to address us and get us seated. Every one of the staff were friendly, attentive and personable which obviously makes a more enjoyable experience as patrons. The establishment is kept very clean. The tables and seating are kept quite clean, as well. The bathrooms have always been seemingly clean all the times I 've been there, which makes a big difference, in my opinion. And, I do often check out the vents above at every eatery I go to, which were very clean at Coasters Crossing. One of the evenings, we inquired if Coasters does breakfast. Apparently, I must have been under a rock for not asking earlier, as they do, and the running group was happy to hear because that gave us a new breakfast place to try. I 'll tell you all, Coasters Crossing delivered! The breakfast is very tasty and priced very well! I usually do my go to breakfast test by getting the Biscuits Gravy with a side of sausage, and coffee. However, Coasters Crossing does it better! I can do the Country Fried Steak with Biscuits Gravy! It was amazing! On top of that, our coffee cup was always filled on many of the breakfast excursions. Many of the foodie runners have returned on their own with their family and other friends, as well as myself. Not one disappointment. All were good experiences. All in all, at the end of any meal I often will ask, Would you come back? My answer for Coasters Crossing? Since the staff are great, the food and drinks are tasty, and the establishment doesn 't partake in any form of discrimination. And, there are more menu items I want to try the next time around. So, yes, without a doubt. By the way, the chicken strips ARE AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! As I always say, if you ever get a chance, definitely try it once and decide for yourself. Enjoy! Note: Even though the masking requirements for indoor spaces have been lifted, there are establishments still requiring masks and COVID cards, it was nice to see this eatery in the greater Portland area not requiring masks or COVID cards. It 's a great to see Coasters Crossing not partaking in any of the Social Discrimination Policies that some restaurant owners/management are choosing to still do."
