"We decided to try this restaurant for a birthday celebration after reading a review from Californians, as we're from California too. I ordered the Carne Asada platter while my partner chose the Taco Salad. Unfortunately, when my carne asada arrived, it had a fishy smell, which was odd—likely because they had just cooked fish. The skirt steak was incredibly tough, almost like shoe leather. The beans were just average, and the guacamole didn’t stand out in any way.
When an employee came by to check on us, we mentioned we were fine but asked for water, only to be told they only had bottled water available. The decor seemed quite outdated, with worn floors and booths. The salt shaker and napkin holder were greasy, and the homemade sign outside advertising 'Lupita's Tacos' was old, faded, and uninviting. Despite these issues, we decided to give it a shot since we were already there.
Unfortunately, we won’t be returning. It wouldn’t take much to improve the ambiance, provide complimentary water, and cook the carne asada properly. The family that owns the restaurant was friendly and kind, which is the only positive aspect I can mention."
