"I am in love with Monte's and wish I had come here sooner. It's a hidden gem in the no man's land between Park Slope and Gowanus (a description which I might take umbrage with) that I likely may never have discovered but for Covid, because I started walking to work and one day decided to go down Carroll Street all the way, where I saw this old school place with a sign claiming it was Brooklyn's oldest Italian restaurant since 1906, and decided that I must try it. It took several more months to actually stop for dinner while walking home from work, which is a darn shame. Our welcoming server was on the drinks right away: husband had the Old Fashioned, which he pronounced perfect, and I had a perfect martini served in a metal, Deco style glass. To accompany, we got fresh delicious breads with olive oil/balsamic/chili flake dipping sauce. We looked at each other and said if this is any clue, this is going to be a great meal. Which it was baked clams were plump and well seasoned, although I prefer a little more sauce, and the Caesar salad was dressed perfectly. I had the cavatelli with wild boar ragu at the server's suggestion, which was delicious, and husband had short ribs, which were incredibly tender. They had a great selection of wine by the glass, at decent prices, to accompany the mains. For dessert we went for the cannoli because we were pretty full (honestly I didn't need a dessert but everything else was so good, I couldn't say no), and they were great: three small cannoli with crispy shells, tangy filling, and chocolate chips sprinkled on top. It was not a cheap meal but the bill was fair for the amount of food and alcohol we consumed. Service was great all the way around, and there is ample, comfortable outdoor seating for diners who aren't ready to go inside. This will become a regular stop on the walk home."

"Second time for dinner there with my wife and daughter. The place is always well kept, well lit, and well decorated. Noise level was okay and the live musician wasn't too loud from where we were sat. The food is always excellent. Last time I was there, I got a burrata ravioli dish that was delicious. This time I got skirt steak as my entree and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I also ordered a corn poblano chowder that was great. I don't remember my wife's orders, but she really enjoyed them. We were a bit disappointed in our waiter this time out. He wasn't particularly friendly or warm. Perhaps it was a long day and he may have been new, but he definitely could've been a bit more engaged. We were not given a list of specials (perhaps there weren't any) and we had to ask to see the dessert tray. We ordered a cheese board and were not told what each cheese was. For $30, they could tell you. I'm not sure if that's a waiter issue or just how they do it as Rum Runner. My wife is slightly allergic to blue cheese and it would've been great if I could've known which one it was. We also ordered the $6 bread app. I'm okay with paying for bread which really amounts to 5 rolls or so because they normally come with cinnamon butter, a fig jam, and oil. However when our order arrived, there was only oil and butter that was in those little rectangular packets. I asked about the butter and fig jam and was told they were out of both. 2 things. 1. Whipped cinnamon butter can't take more than 2 minutes to make. You mix cinnamon and butter and whip it. Whatever. Maybe it's not made in house for some reason. 2. It would've been nice to have been told about this beforehand. I might have ordered something else. He could've also told us when he brought the order over. I shouldn't have had to ask. A $6 comp would've gone a long way there. Otherwise, we had a very good meal. We'll be back again but if this would've been my first time here, I might go elsewhere next time."

"This is a hotel restaurant. Something not obvious in the description provided. They add tablecloths at night and lower the lighting to make it a little more formal. I booked this because I had a specific time frame, location and request for steak and this was the only location that fit the bill. The lobby is very large and open with great views, but when we arrived there was no clear signage telling us where to find the restaurant. The restaurant boasts about having great views but several tables, like ours, were badly positioned so only one guest had the view and one guest had their back to the view. The restaurant was much noisier than I expected. The tablecloth had clearly not been ironed which bothered me. The cutlery was very badly scratched and looked old and used. The service is prompt, professional, attentive and responsive. I ordered a drink that was very badly made, which was a disappointment. We elected to share an appetizer with shrimp, orange segments and fennel. The minute the plate was put on the table the smell of the shrimp was overwhelming. First sign they were definitely not fresh. When we ate them, they were very slimy, yet another sign they were not fresh. They were very tough and overcooked. It was not a good start. We ordered steak with lobster tail. The steak was perfect. Every bite was tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned and medium rare, which is what I expected. The lobster was over-seasoned and over-cooked. The brussel sprouts were perfectly cooked and seasoned. My guest ordered a baked potato that arrived very late and cold. We were in a time crunch so we did not order dessert. They validate parking which is important. The meal was over priced $200) for only two people and definitely not worth the price. If you are staying in the hotel the restaurant is fine. If you want a good basic steak, they do a great job, but there are far better places to enjoy a good steak dinner in Burlingame."

"Came here to celebrate a Birthday, but was worried because I haven't been here since before Covid. And I was concerned the food and service changed. Well I was concerned over nothing. The food was better than I remember. The waitress was great, after we were seated, they immediatly brought Garlic Knots to the table. The Garlic Knots were so soft it was like eating an out the oven biscuit, with Garlic baked in and garlic oil and Parmesan cheese on top. And they had some tomato spread that went well with it. I could of eaten a dozen of them. But that bread saved us money, because we didnt order appetizers. She ordered Angel Hair Primavera with Chicken. The portion was nice. Definitely food to take home, which was the next day's lunch. I wasn't sure what to get, so I went with their special, Honey-Glazed Half-Chicken over spicey/sweet Brussel Sprouts. I don't know how they cooked the chicken but I was tasting the Honey-Glaze within the meat. It was so good. Not huge fan of Brussel Sprouts, but it was the perfect compliment to the sweetness of the chicken. We enjoyed the meal so much, and glad we got there when we did. Because by the time we noticed the place was very busy. As we ate our meals, we enjoyed watching the other dishes being served. They do a great job with food presentation. But the waitress made the night for us, but definitely for me. Like i said, it was a birthday dinner, and we said that to the waitress as we were seated. When we finsihed and was enjoying the ambiance, without me asking the waitress, she brought over a small cup filled whip cream and a candle and sang Happy Birthday. Again, I didnt ask her to do this, she took it upon herself to do this. It's those small gestures that made the night even better. Love this place."

"The history of this place is a draw alone I mean how many places can you have drinks and food where George Washington, Paul Revere, and Benjamin Franklin sat to have drinks? The added plus is that the vibe here is great, the prices are amazing, and the bar service was absolutely fantastic. We were able to grab bar seats (thanks to those who shifted down so we could fit! , which is always my personal preference. Devon (sp? the bartender was fantastic FAST despite a very full bar, fun, personable, and hilarious. Really enjoyed her personality, drink making skills, and conversation! We had come from Harpoon, so weren 't starving, but definitely wanted to take advantage of the $1 oysters (M F, 3 6 PM , then heard raves about the clam chowder so ordered that as well plus, I can never turn down truffle fries of any kind so threw in an order of those as well (despite being so full from eating prior . Everything was delicious the oysters were on the medium to large size, super fresh and briny, the clam chowder was DELICIOUS, rich, with tons of clams. The truffle fries were also hugely portioned and really good especially to soak up the drinks consumed prior and while there. As far as drinks went, the cocktail list was really vast and Devon (going to be so mad if I 'm spelling her name wrong! was a pro at crafting them. Some of what we tried included the blood orange marg, G.T.O.T.M. (the gin and tonic of the moment , Fiddlehead IPA, sour beer, and Sauvignon Blanc. Everything was delicious, cold, and was served fast. Overall, this is a really charming, fun place to go and one that I 'll definitely return to for future Boston trips!"
