"To start, I had the Lobster Bisque, which was rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor. Each spoonful had bits of lobster that were perfectly cooked. The table also ordered Sourdough and Garlic Bread. The portions were decent, but with seven of us dining, one order wasn't quite enough. However, both the garlic bread and the sourdough were absolutely delicious. My husband and I decided to share the 2.5 lb Porterhouse steak. We requested it to be cooked Medium Well, and it arrived exactly as we wanted. It was amusing when the other diners received their steaks on plates adorned with a little salad and carrots, while we got empty plates with just a small salad and some carrots. Then, the waiter surprised us with a massive platter, reminiscent of a Thanksgiving feast, holding our generous portion of steak. The Porterhouse included both New York Strip and Filet Mignon—plenty for two, possibly three. As a group, we ordered several sides to share, and they were enormous! We had Mac n Cheese, Truffle Mac n Cheese (the best option), Lobster Mashed Potatoes (so delicious), Sugar Snap Peas (which I heard were great), Asparagus, and Scalloped Potatoes. It was fantastic to sample a variety of sides, and I'm glad we all chose different ones. When we ordered our meals, we were informed that if we wanted the soufflé for dessert, we had to do it right away—and it was big enough to share! We decided to get two: one Chocolate and one Grand Marnier. They were each the size of a small birthday cake meant for four! Unsurprisingly, we devoured both, and they were spectacular, served with a side of cream. The check for dinner for seven came to $667, and I can confidently say it was worth every penny. Oh, and I also tried a drink called "Grounds for Divorce" which I highly recommend—the ice cube in it is exceptional!"

"Went out for a Sunday brunch with a small group of 6. We made reservations a couple of weeks in advance on the advice of one of the members of our party. And all in all, it was a good, but not great experience We found out way through the Arlington neighborhoods until we came across Ruthies. A cute storefront just adjacent to an apartment complex. We were fortunate to find a parking spot out back and we 're able to marvel at the large offset Smokey out back which is always a positive sign for a restaurant. Upon checking in we started to realize the downside of this restaurant. The service. Poorly greeted by the hostesses and left to stand aimlessly in a overcrowded foyer area, we waited to be escorted to our table. We would have milled about outside, but unfortunately it was approximately 2000 degrees outside. After only a few minutes, we were escorted to our seats. The interior design was lovely and all of us were excited for our meal. The menus were unceremoniously handed to us and we began to peruse our options. Absolutely everything looked outstanding. The waiter came by as we were reviewing the choices and was visibly irritated when we asked for additional time. With a huff he turned on a heel and walked away. Ultimately I decided to try the Nice Salmon salad. Others tried the apple pie pancakes, the Ruthies Big Plate, the burger, and the brisket Bennie. My wife chose to have a collections of sides as a simple meal. I asked to have no egg and no potato crisp on my salad, but if possible, I desired extra anchovies. To which I received some fairly critical commentary from the waiter. seriously? Was actually stated. l. And then rolling of eyes. He was similarly taken aback my my wife 's orders. he was haughtily dismissive that we designed to tailor our choices. It was all I could do to not respond with a snippy retort to knock him down a peg So, having our palates soured by the entry into the meal our food was soon presented. Everything looked wonderful. The presentation was spot on. The apple pie pancakes looked like something right out of a confectioner 's dream. The burger was exclaimed to be the best burger ever by one who has had their share of burgers. The other row dishes were quickly devoured so it 's likely the commentary was limited given the voracious mess of the eating. The my salad was wonderful despite no egg, no crisps and with the extra anchovies . The salmon was cooked perfectly as well. So, to wrap this up Ruthies is a nice location for a meal. The food is above average on whole, with some particularly good selections. If they could work with their staff to make the expertise enjoyable on a human interaction level, it would certainly be a four star locale. Not going to hurry back anytime soon"

"First Impressions and Atmosphere: Upon arriving at Galletto Ristorante right as the doors opened at 4:30 PM on 07/27/2024, I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted personally by the General Manager. This warm and informative welcome set a positive tone for the evening, highlighting the restaurant’s unique connection with the Gallo Center for the Arts. Owned by the Gallo Center, Galletto Ristorante creatively adapts its ambiance to match the theme of the performances at the center. On nights without specific events, the restaurant features an eclectic mix of music; for instance, during my visit, they played delightful 60s music, adding to the charming and relaxing atmosphere. The decor of Galletto Ristorante is simply remarkable, blending traditional Italian elegance with contemporary touches. The outdoor seating area is a particular highlight, offering a five-star experience. The lush greenery surrounding the exterior adds a refined charm that enhances the overall atmosphere, making it an ideal venue for both intimate dinners and larger gatherings. During my visit, there were two large parties of 14+ guests, and the setting perfectly accommodated these events. Cuisine and Dining Experience: Galletto Ristorante prides itself on using freshly made, locally sourced, and farm-to-table ingredients. This commitment to quality is evident in the vibrant flavors and superior taste of the dishes, distinguishing the restaurant not only in Modesto but across the region. The freshness and authenticity of the ingredients provided a refreshing and distinct dining experience. However, there were a few aspects of the dining experience that merit attention. Both my guest and I found the sauces on our entrees to be overly salty. I would recommend ordering sauces on the side to tailor the flavor to your preference and especially for those with dietary restrictions such as high blood pressure. Service: While the initial greeting by the GM was exceptional, the overall service had notable shortcomings. Despite being the first guests to arrive, it took approximately 33 minutes for us to be attended to for our drink orders. This delay was compounded by the unprofessional response from the staff member who eventually approached us. Such lapses are incongruent with the high standards expected of a restaurant of this caliber. Additionally, the replacement of used utensils was neglected; they were left on the table until dessert, which is a deviation from the attentive service typical of fine dining establishments. Value and Pricing: Galletto Ristorante is currently revamping its menu, and I believe a reassessment of pricing is warranted. Some dishes, given their portion size, taste, and quality, seemed overpriced. Furthermore, the dining experience spanned two hours, which suggests a need for more efficient service, particularly in light of the idle staff and observed delays. Overall Impression: Despite the areas needing improvement, the General Manager’s attentiveness and the outstanding quality of the food made my visit memorable. Galletto Ristorante offers a unique and culturally enriched dining experience that I look forward to revisiting. The restaurant’s innovative approach of aligning its themes with the Gallo Center for the Arts, coupled with its dedication to fresh, locally sourced ingredients, sets it apart. I anticipate that with some fine-tuning in service efficiency and pricing adjustments, Galletto Ristorante will continue to enhance its reputation and attract more guests. Thank you for hosting me, and I eagerly await my next visit!"

"My first experience of Jar was when I had time to kill before a reservation at a nearby restaurant that didn 't have a full bar. I wanted to enjoy a cocktail and some quiet time with a book before my dinner, and Jar just happened to be the nearest option. I was struck by the ambience the moment I walked in and was given a friendly greeting by the staff. I sat at the bar and ordered the Naughty Martini (love the blue cheese olives. The couple next to me at the bar soon received an order of the onion rings, and when I commented that they looked amazing, they insisted that I try one. I was right. They were amazing. The two next to me were planning their wedding, and meeting the parents of one of them. When the parents arrived, it became apparent that they were regulars. They told me how Jar was one of their favorite restaurants, that they 'd been coming for years, and they pointed out several of their favorite items on the menu, so I knew I was going to have to come back. I also noticed the chef (who I now know is the owner, Suzanne Tracht standing at the bar for a bit, chatting with a patron, before she spent time going to several tables in the dining room, checking on things with other diners. I was sad when I had to leave to go to my dinner at the other restaurant, because I wanted to just stay there to dine. I 've now been back three times, and I 'll keep going, to work my way through the menu. So far, for main courses, I 've had the signature pot roast (fantastic and two specials, a porterhouse, shared with a friend, and diver scallops, both wonderful. The crab deviled eggs are now a favorite of mine, as are the gem salad and the wedge. (Unlike every other wedge I 've had, this one had enough blue cheese! For sides, they are all terrific, but the creamed corn is a particular favorite. And as for cocktails, the Naughty Martini is wonderful, but I highly recommend the newly added Not a Negroni."
