"We tried Blue 44 Restaurant and Bar for the first time in December 2020. Our order included the fried chicken with sides (garlicky green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, and a biscuit) and gumbo, which comes with rice topped with scallions. We were very lucky to also receive two scrumptious desserts in our order a chocolate silk pie (came with chocolate sauce and whipped cream) and a cheesecake (came with a berry compote and whipped cream). Everything was delicious! The fried chicken was well seasoned and crispy, not oily, the mashed potatoes were super creamy and smooth, the garlicky green beans had just the right amount of garlic on them, and the biscuit was good enough to eat plain! The gumbo had just the right amount of spiciness to it, the pulled chicken in it was very tender, and the gumbo tasted great with the rice. The desserts were so good, too light and decadent without being too sweet. Additionally, the individuals affiliated with this restaurant are great people! The owner is really kind, the chefs are so talented, and all the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. This is a great place, and we highly recommend it!"
