"Staying at The Plaza during Christmas in NY was an absolute dream come true. The location can’t be beat, and the lobby, restaurants and bars are all so lovely. However, we have stayed at other nice NY hotels (Waldorf Astoria RIP, the Langham, etc) and I was very surprised that the mini bar and snack options were lacking in the room. When we came down the hall at 4pm after checking in, there were many dirty trays outside of people’s rooms and an abandoned housekeeping vacuum leaning against a wall. Don’t get me wrong, I know they were coming back for it eventually but for the cost of the room, it was surprising. I was expecting the nicest of nice in all areas. Once we got in the room, the bathroom was gorgeous with all of the intricate gold details. But the lighting was definitely dark, so ladies keep that in mind when planning to do your makeup. It was definitely doable, just dark. Now this is what will make me sound extra.. but the toilet paper was SO ROUGH. I’m talking the cheapest ply you can get. Again, I normally don’t care at all about that sort of thing. But when you’re payint over $1k/night for a room, you figure the hotel could atleast buy some charmin. After this bucket list experience I realized that the Plaza is worth the price due to: it’s history, the fact that it is the most iconic hotel in NYC, the location, and the grandeur rooms and lobby. But if you’re expecting Four Seasons style amenities in the room, the newest and most techy room features, Vegas hotel minibar and snacks, you may want to look at a newer property."
