"Today, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico were playing in the Serie del Caribe, hosted for the first time in an MLB stadium, the Marlins' stadium in Miami. I asked several times if the manager could switch one of the many TVs to show the game, but he refused, citing that he was too busy. On top of that, I witnessed him speaking quite harshly to one of his employees.
He could have easily asked any of the half-dozen employees around him to change the channel, but instead, every TV was tuned to college basketball, which nobody in the restaurant seemed to care about. It was a simple request with an easy solution, especially since the venue could easily double as a sports bar with all the ESPN screens.
Our main goal today was to enjoy some of our favorite food and drinks while watching the game. The manager lacked the hospitality one would expect in this industry. I understand that he has a lot to manage, and I could see that he was working hard. However, his employees would have gladly made the change if he had just given them the green light.
A little more customer care would go a long way."
