"Cute and cozy authentic German restaurant with big plates! I met a friend here for breakfast because she loves the food here. It was PACKED for breakfast, and the parking lot is teeny tiny. I circled around twice, but unfortunately no spaces opened up, so I drove down the block and parked at the bank in the next plaza and walked over. The inside of the diner is incredibly small, but the staff works hard to get food out fast. Do not try to seat large parties here, unless you eat outside. I think the largest size table is a 4-top, and there is not a lot of walking room between tables. I ordered a breakfast plate that included 2 Eggs made your way, Corned Beef Hash, and your choice of Potatoes (home fries or hash) or Grits and Toast. I got the hash made extra crispy, and I LOVED it! You can see the pieces of shredded potatoes and taste the freshness of your food when you eat it. The corned beef hash was well seasoned, but cooked a bit on the mushy side for my taste. Next time, I will ask for it cooked well done for my personal preference. I also got a side of French Toast because I know they would be freshly made. The toast was HUGE and so fluffy! I loved it. It wasn't caked in sugars or flour, but fresh egg and not too soggy. I drizzled some syrup on it and finished the whole plate! I had an excellent meal at Cypress Nook, and I will definitely be back! The staff was friendly and very attentive. My coffee cup was always full because someone was always making rounds and checking on the diners. They even knew my friend by name because she often eats there. I would love to come back for dinner and try some German food. Cypress Nook takes cash and card, but use your registered credit card for Yelp Cash Back!"

"From the outside, this restaurant is underwhelming: A small storefront on First Ave so small and typical that it hardly stands out. But, both in hunger and on a leap of faith, my friend and I gave this place a chance, and we are glad we did. Inside, the restaurant is surprisingly tastefully decorated and has more seating than I would expect for such a small storefront. We were seated on the upper level by the small bar on a quiet weeknight and were immediately served, given that there wasn 't much of a crowd in the middle of the week. Though the prix fixe menu was tempting $28 for an appetizer, entree and dessert), both my friend and I opted to split the small appetizer plate and each get a small plate of our own. For her, that small plate was a lentil soup; for me, the octopus salad with feta $3). Everything that came out was delightful and great for sharing minus the soup). The small appetizer place came with 5 cold appetizers of our choosing and delicious warm bread to smear it all on. My friend is gluten free, so they even brought her a plate of crudités for no extra charge. The octopus salad was well dressed in olive oil and the octopus to salad ratio was perfect! Though I was full from the appetizer plate, the salad made a great lunch the next day. The only reason I won 't give this restaurant 5 stars is the prices for what you get, I did feel this was a bit pricey, but I don 't think this will stop me from coming back!"

"Leaving this review so hopefully La Fusta can take some accountability. To celebrate Father’s Day this year, we wanted to go to our fave restaurant La Fusta. We made a reservation for 6:30pm for 6 people. We were told we’d be accommodated and they looked forward to seeing us. When we arrived. There was a line and huge wait of people who all had reservations. Everyone had been told to come for their reservation time but none of us had been told when we’d arrive that we’d be waiting in line. There were families with 4 plus people waiting, many with older family members and babies/ toddlers. We were not given a reason for the wait or given an apology of any kind. Despite the wait, we wanted to stay because the food is always good at La Fusta. However then they made a very racist decision which left a horrible impression on myself and my family. The hostess decided to sit the family AFTER us in line BEFORE us because the white man at the front of their group complained. Supposedly they had a reservation for a half hour before us, but that is not what their family had been saying while they were waiting. They had been saying their reservation was for the SAME TIME as us. Since they were on line after us, they should have been sat after us. However they were intentionally sat before us. As a family of latinos, it was hard not to perceive that decision as blatantly racist. We have frequented La Fusta for many years and for many special occasions. However, after this overt racism we’re left considering if we’ll ever return. Such a shame considering that their staff is predominantly latino as well. Hoping La Fusta takes some accountability for this decision and reaches out to make it right. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2"

"Wonderful menu, such interesting and flavourful dishes. I have tried multiple items on the menu and each was so beautifully presented and tasted absolutely delicious. French Onion soup is traditional and not salty, flavourful broth, and lots of cheese. Order the bruschetta with cheese, the tomatoes are chopped to just the right size and marinated along with onions, a little garlic parsley and a good size portion for you to dish on the bread as you see fit. Soup of the day has always been good too, all home made and never salty. Had the Dinner Crepes Parisiennes with ham, goat cheese, spinach and egg, served with home fries which are like a roast potato that has been sliced multiple times thinly and crisps up nice. Also served with fresh salad and fruit (peaches, strawberries, grapes) that are in a light sweet sauce and go so well with the cheese and flavours in the crepe. I 've also had the vegetarian crepe, fantastic and this was stuffed full of spinach, goat cheese, onion, avocado, and tomato with the same sides as above. My favourite dish on the menu is the Chicken Breaded Cutlet with peppercorn sauce. This is the most tender piece of chicken cutlet I have ever had, cut it with a fork. The breading is crisp and light. This dish is served with the same roast potato home fries, veggies (carrots, beans wrapped in bacon...amazing) and a salad. I don 't normally think of steak at a French restaurant other then the typical minute steak and frites, but this place has a great cut of sirloin beef they do either with bacon and goat cheese, or with a garlic portobello mushroom sauce. Save room for dessert, more crepes with choice of ice cream and filling (chocolate, peanut butter), toppings like bananas, strawberries, fruit, chocolate, Nutella, maple syrup. So happy we finally have a good restaurant in Pickering."

"Having returned about months ago from a fabulous tour of Morocco, we contacted another couple living in Richmond we'd met on that tour invited them for the week-end so we could reconnect, share some photos especially revisit some of the wonderful tangine dishes we'd enjoyed in Morocco. We were anxious as we went to Mazagan on a Saturday evening. The place at was virtually empty... that should have been a tip-off. After our round of drinks arrived, we ordered only to be told the much anticipated lamb tangine was unavailable as they were out of lamb. What to think of a Moroccan restaurant on Saturday evening with no lamb! We settled for less desired other entrees. The four ordered starter dishes arrived without serving spoons that then required each person to use their personal fork to move the morsel to their plate, eat it with that fork and then go back for more with their same fork.. not the way to present starter dishes. We tried to get our waitress' attention to correct this, but was not able to bring her to our table. All all, a mediocre evening. The lamb kabobs of us ate were replete with grissel, and while tasty.. were not the anticipated lamb tagine that brought us there in the first place. One of us had the chicken bastilla only to comment that it tasted like it been warmed up vice just baked. While the evening served the requirement to revisit the food of Morocco as we recalled, it was so-so at best a major disappointment with the lack of a lamb tangine. Not going back."

"Travelling for work, back in the town that I grew up. Always love heading down to Broad St, but my hotel was off Washington Rd. and I-20 and it was a long day. There are some great places to eat in Augusta, and even though one of my favorites (Rhinehart's) was close, I opted for a new place (for me).Ephesus Restaurant was nice close, and I love Greek/Med food. You have to really keep an eye out for it as it sits behind another restaurant right off Washington Road, sort of caddy-corner across from Rhinehart's. If you see Jay's Music then you are in the right parking lot. Strangely, there was only one other customer dining in while I ate. I did see quite a few pick-up orders go out however.Don't let that stop you. I started with the Cigar Pies. These warm and tasty items were simply Filo dough filled with Turkish feta and parsley. Think Mediterranean cheese stick! For my main I had the Shawarma. In addition to tzatziki they also offered hummus which I went with. Everything tasted fresh and was piping hot. Service was awesome as well. Since the company was picking up the tab, I also ordered a frosty cold one--a Mythos, which was a very pleasant lager. I really wanted another but was pretty full after the meal. I had difficulty finishing everything, should have skipped the app but glad that I didn't. I may or may-not have allegedly ordered baklava to go....On the next trip down with the Fam we will definitely be hitting this spot."
