"Upon sitting down, we ordered waters and asked our waitress for two separate baskets of chips and salsa since we tend to go through one quickly, which would save her time. We ordered fajitas and queso to share, but since we had just come from a funeral, we weren’t particularly hungry. The waitress asked if we still wanted the salad, rice, and beans that typically accompany the meal. A bit confused, we agreed. When the food arrived, each of us received a "fajita side salad." We didn't raise any concerns, assuming that this was standard when sharing fajitas. However, the fajitas themselves lacked flavor. After finishing our meal, the waitress brought us the check, and to our surprise, we were charged for extra chips, extra salsa, and the extra side salad. I approached the waitress to clarify why we were charged for items that are typically complimentary. She explained that we were billed because we had two baskets at once. If we had requested a refill later, it would have been free. I told her that I’ve never been charged for chips and salsa at any El Loro before, to which she responded that this was a new policy implemented a year ago due to some customers only ordering chips and salsa. However, we had clearly ordered a full meal and I shared that I had visited multiple El Loro locations in the past year without any issues. I asked if there were any signs in the restaurant or on the menu indicating this charge, but she said there weren't. I requested to speak to a manager, but she just stared at me and did not respond. I repeated my request, but nothing changed. I explained my reasoning for wanting a refund for the chips and salsa, as I believed both baskets should have been complimentary, but she maintained that we were charged because we received them simultaneously. After attempting to reason with her for a while with no resolution, I paid the bill and left. I have no plans to return to this location and will be advising everyone I know to steer clear as well."

"OUTSTANDINGLY SUPERB! Honestly the only place I've been able to request items that aren't necessarily on the menu and a little more authentic' then the cliche Mexican establishments in my entire life. From fluent Spanish speaking American and fluent English speaking Hispanic staff I was met with unbelievable service. Matthew was my server yet more of a guide to the splendid food, salsa, and specials they offered; guiding me warmly, charismatically, and most knowledgeably through my desired experience and showing me my next delicious experience. Add the inviting ambience and smiling faces diligently attentive to even a newbie like myself and you undoubtedly get the best dine in or take out memory of your life. I'm from now on a regular to say the least. I had only tacos which I ordered custom and were prepared exactly how I requested verbatim. And the brown salsa was the best I've tried anywhere rivalling the most talented taco stand traditions. The music was of excellent flavor as much as the food! They are family owned and it shows in excellent fashion!Tables were bussed immediately and impeccable. Utensils were appropriately cleaned and dishes were glistening. Bathrooms were as if new and the whole store maintains a clean, fresh, inviting fragrance that compliments the decor wonderfully. Jose, the manager, was a very bright and welcoming face whom I was able to share good conversation and inquisitive thoughts without feeling burdensome. My server, Matthew, was bilingual and an younger American who knew what I was looking for and delivered more than I expected. It was honestly him who pushed the stone down the hill to become a regular. Combined with everything else, who could resist? This is by far your best choice within the surrounding area for a good vibe, unparalleled flavor, and great prices and specials here in Clinton and surrounding areas. If you haven't- COME AND EAT! VAMOS A COMER! I highly and fully recommend the entire experience here and look forward to seeing you if Im here. It's legit frfr!"

"We stopped in for the first time on a Sunday evening; noticed the outdoor dead winter planters on the sidewalk, and the bag of ice melt it's been 3 months since winter ended, not a good sign. Inside, service for seating and ordering was prompt. Immediately noticed that the tabletop was excessively sticky, however, which was a huge turnoff. When your arms, napkins, and even your cell phone stick to the table, it is an issue. Is it clean? Is it a buildup of grime or cleaner? Either way, not acceptable. Chips and salsa were hot and fresh. I ordered the Tropical Fajitas, which according to the photo, showed a fresh pineapple half, filled with the described meats and fajita veggies. On arrival, the entree looked nothing like the photo. 3 canned pineapple rings lay on top, another 2 were buried under cheese sauce with the tough, overcooked shrimp, and julienned (too thin a cut for high heat) steak and chicken, which all continued to cook on the hot fajita platter. If they were out of fresh pineapple, that should have been mentioned to me as I ordered. If the dish is never made with fresh pineapple, the menu photo and description needs to be changed. While the meat mix had flavor, it was drenched in cheese sauce and tough. I usually send items back when they're not acceptable but last night chose not to due to personal circumstances. We may return to try other items; my husband's Enchilada Verdes were tasty. We happened to see a server using an all purpose cleaner on the other highly varnished booth tables near us, so we assume the sticky situation is varnish becoming tacky with cleaner over time. Hopefully the business takes some time to pay attention to all of these things, but when customers continue to rave about the food, sometimes the business doesn't care enough to bring other concerns up to a higher standard."

"I think I just don't have luck at restaurants named Agave. While the place looks cute, its lack of flavor (or just basic seasonings like salt) make this a place not worth visiting. I appreciate that there was Valet because there is limited street parking and their lot was small. My husband said the valet was rude, but I didn't witness it myself. We were a very large table, so while accommodating, service was very slow and we probably should've had two dedicated waiters vs the poor nice waitress who was completely overwhelmed. Drinks were OK, but everything was watered down and there are no prices on the drink menu. I think we finally ordered appetizers about an hour after we arrived( and entrees about 45 minutes after that). While there was a nice presentation the food was terrible. The cheese fondue, has zero flavor (honestly you couldn't even tell there was cheese) it was a soupy thin mess with chewy shrimp inside. I kept trying to figure out the flavor, and I assume they didn't make the flour mixture in it correctly. The chips they brought out with it were stale, and nothing like the chips we had with a snack (although they never refilled them and we had a tiny helping to share between 6 people. We also split tostados, which looked good but still lacked flavor, even the crema was bland. Since I could tell how the food was I opted for a burrito bowl, but was still dissatisfied. Overall while it may be cute for a birthday, you are better off going to chipotle where the food is much better and at least the service is fast. I have photos but they aren't even worth it to post."
