"The Hometown Buffet in Cerritos has made some upgrades. They now feature a self-service beverage bar with two large computer stations that look like vending machines, where you can get drinks like ice cream floats and various sodas. While the idea of unlimited Icees is tempting, there's a catch – there’s a fee for this unlimited drink access, which I think is around $3.99, unless you choose to just get water.
Another positive change at the Cerritos Hometown Buffet is their spice station, which I find to be a great improvement. Many people enjoy being able to customize the flavors of their food. The restaurant offers both booth and table seating, as well as a semi-private dining area. There’s also a salad and soup section. The buffet typically includes dishes like macaroni and cheese, spaghetti, garlic bread, tacos, fish, cornbread, enchiladas, potatoes, corn, and more. For dessert, you can usually find brownies, cookies, rice crispy treats, cakes, and self-serve ice cream.
The process at Hometown Buffet involves paying before you sit down. You’ll need to place your receipt or card on the table to let the servers know you are dining there. The reception or card indicates which area your receipt/card is placed at. Aside from the baby cockroach incident, the place appeared relatively clean, or at least it seemed that way. My waitress was very pleasant, and regular servers come around to offer small plates of food samples.
In the past, I’ve enjoyed their mozzarella sticks and cinnamon rolls. This place is almost always busy, particularly on Sundays right after church. If you prefer to eat at home, they also offer takeout options. You can fill a container with food and pay at the cash register.
Considering my experience, I would rate this place somewhere between two and three stars because of the baby cockroach I encountered."
