"The Left Bank has always been a favorite! But after a brunch for this past Sunday running up a bill of (incl. tip), I looked at the bill and found there was a charge that is shared amongst the staff as a retention fund, the hamburger was and extra bread pieces french bread) was (who charges for bread???)makes this to be a very expensive place to eat and frankly poor value. The service was extremely slow for some reason, though very nice waiter who was good when he did get to you, but the meal was stretched to over hours. And when we asked for salad and got fries, the meal was almost over before the replacement salad came. Not that it's required, but I had listed in the reservation it was a birthday celebration and there was no recognition of it. Often nicer restaurants at least recognize the occasion. There were no specials, few brunch/breakfast options and frankly the menu has gone a bit stale and needs some new items. I'm grateful they're open for business, but I suspect we'll be looking for other options rather than having this as our "go to place" esp. for special occasions"
