"This is, handsdown, the best Indian food in San Francisco. In fact, it's the best Indian food I've had outside of India. We started out by ordering the vegetarian momo, but we received the chicken momo instead. I don't like to waste food, so we didn't send it back. It ended up being absolutely delicious and a great kickoff to our meal. Next was the kale bhel. It was perfectly cispy, and the hardy greens really held their own against the bold textures and flavors. The meyer lemon shrimp appetizer was one of my favorite dishes. I took one bite and was transported back to our trip to India years ago. This tastes like Kerala, I said to my partner. The salmon vindaloo was fiery and packed with flavor. We greedily sopped up the sauce with our garlic naan. For some reason, their grilled sandwiches only appear on their takeout menu. We'd read about them in the Chronicle and asked if we could order the vegetarian cheese chilli sandwich. They obliged. It took a while to make it to our table, but it was worth it. Ketchup, which I normally hate, was served on the side. What the hell, I thought, and dove in. It was heavenly. The sweetness of the ketchup was the perfect foil for the saltiness of the cilantro chutney. I wanted to order another one but thought better of it. Do yourself a favor and ask for this sandwich.I can't wait to eat my way through the rest of Spice of America's menu"
