"First off, this was a last of the minute New Year’s reservation after we finished our day at the horse races. It was a pleasant end to a great day. The NYE meal was $58/person which was a great deal. With the delicious buffet, prime rib carving station, salad bar, fruit bar, shrimp cocktail and desert bar I was impressed. The food really was great, for a buffet. The ambiance was so-so as the venue was in the dining hall. So, tables were very close together and the lighting was very bright. A little extra space and dimmer lighting would’ve helped the experience. The service was only ok. Plates were cleared in a timely manner, and we had our drinks refilled once. Having a few more touch points with our server would’ve helped. But at the end of the meal if took 25 min to get our bill. I have a lot of patience and compassion with those in the service industry as it is not an easy job. But waiting that long for the bill was a lot to handle, especially as everyone’s bill was the same, minus any cocktails (which we had none). Overall, 3/5 stars is the best I could give based on the service and ambiance."
