"I started with the French Onion soup. While I’ve had better, it was still satisfying on a chilly day. Looking for something savory, I decided to order the Chicken Pot Pie. However, when the dish arrived, I could tell right away that it wasn’t going to be good. The broth and crust were extremely bland, even after I added salt and pepper. There were barely any vegetables, and the chicken itself was tasteless. Since the service had been so great, I hesitated to return it, but after a couple of bites, I couldn't continue eating.
I asked the waitress for another menu so I could try something else instead. At that moment, the owner, Andy, approached me quite loudly and asked, "What's wrong with it?" I was sitting at the counter, and he made such a scene that everyone turned to look. He then declared, "You’re going to pay for it!" I replied, "Fine." After sitting there feeling embarrassed and frustrated about having paid $15.38 for a very small cup of soup, I went up to him to ask why he wouldn’t issue a refund. With a flushed face, he responded, "We sell thousands of these, I’m not just going to throw it away!"
Throughout the encounter, he did nothing to help me enjoy my first visit. His attitude was condescending and quite angry. I remained calm until the end when I asked for his name. In response, he asked for mine, which led me to say something I regret. I can’t definitively call him racist, but I can't help but feel that a 58-year-old white woman wouldn’t have been treated the way I was."
