"I really enjoy the Steak Mexicano, mixed fajitas, shrimp chimichanga, carne asada, and carnitas at this restaurant. Even the fajita taco salad is delicious here. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. When there were two El Acapulco locations in Jonesboro, I only dined at this one. In my opinion, it’s the only authentic Mexican restaurant in town (TaMolly's doesn't count, folks! It's more of a blend of Tex-Mex, American, and upscale Taco Bell). At El Acapulco, I can order dishes that aren’t on the menu because many of the kitchen staff are Mexican. In the past, a lot of the waitstaff was Mexican as well, which made it easy to order traditional Mexican plates. However, the last time I visited before the pandemic, the waitstaff was entirely American, and there were quite a few errors in our orders because they weren’t familiar with Mexican cuisine. I hope they’ve brought back some Mexican or at least Mexican-American staff in the kitchen and on the floor again. Since the pandemic, I’ve only ordered takeout from here. My orders are always accurate, although the tortillas are a common issue. If I order corn tortillas, I often receive flour instead; if I ask for two corn tortillas, I'll usually get one corn and one flour. My husband likes the flour tortillas, so I just give him the extra and enjoy my meal without the tortillas."
